Due to a failing battery in a UPS I had an unexpected Windows shut down. After the UPS was repaired I turned on the PC, and noticed the "Windows was not properly shut down" error as I was rechecking the PC. I have a single 1 TB SSD partitioned into 2 500 GB drives and the 2nd drive has vanished. I have Aomei Partition Pro which I'm hoping I can use to recover the missing partition but can't figure it out. Says to select the partition and shows a list of two drives. My system had a C: and D: and now D is gone. I only show one drive and it is the main OS C: drive. I checked and the D: drive is not hidden. So if it's not on the Aomei drive list what's next?

Unfortunately I think there are some "links" or references in the C: drive that are causing big problems because that D: drive can't be found. Has anyone had any experience with that Aomei product? I'm waiting for their support to get back to me, but thought I might find some help here? Thanks ..

Rich, take a look at Disk Management and see if it might be as simple as the second partition not having a drive letter assigned to it. If you need details on how to do this let me know and I'll get you some screenshots.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

If you have been taking a 'Disk backup' you should be able to restore the whole disk image which would have the D: partition included.

It happened to me once. The missing D: Drive.

If the drive has not turned RAW, it may just be missing an assigned letter - D.

If that is the case, use Powershell or Command Prompt as administrator.
Type ‘Diskpart’
Then ‘List Volume’

Volume 0 has the assigned letter ‘C’. This is your OS.
Volume 1 does not have an assigned letter. This is your missing ‘D’ Drive.

If that turns out to be the case, do the following.

Type ‘Select Volume 1’
Next ‘Assign’ Letter - D
Press ‘Enter’
Problem solved.

If the missing drive has turned RAW, then you need to re-convert it to NTFS.

Hi @Rich A

Your computer specs indicate that you have a 500GB Crucial CT500P3PSSD8 500.11 GB NVMe disk (OS Disk) but you are saying that you have a 1TB disk partitioned as two 500GB drives. Which is correct? ( You also have a Silicon Power 500GB SSD as a secondary disk in your Beelink SEi8)

Whatever
1. Please post a screenshot taken with the AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro. ( Also indicate whether it is a free trial version or a registered version with a licence.)
2. Also post a screenshot of Windows Disk Management.

This will enable us to ascertain the current status and decide on further course of action to resolve the issue.
