I am running Windows 11 22H2, Build 22621.674 on two different machines, one a Gateway laptop and the other a recent home-built desktop. I am having an odd minor issue with my desktop that is more of an annoyance than anything, but I would like to be able to resolve it. Whenever I open Edge and place the mouse pointer in either the address bar or the search box the pointer disappears, and it takes about a second or so for the I beam to appear. After the initial delay there is then no delay in the appearance of the I beam. The same thing occurs for each new tab I open and often it does the same each time a close a tab. On my slow little laptop, the I beam appears the instant I put the pointer in either box. I did a repair install of Edge, but no resolution. I just installed Chrome and even without changing any settings I experience the same behavior in Chrome. I am only experiencing this behavior in the two browsers. I have not noticed it in any other Windows text box. As I am typing this, I am having the same problem intermittently. sometimes if I move the pointer out of this text box and then move it back in the pointer will disappear and I have no idea where the cursor is.

I usually need to click in the box to get the cursor then start typing, it's part of getting the focus where needed.

Yes, it is necessary to click in the box to get the I beam to change to the blinking cursor, but the pointer should change to the I beam as soon as it goes into the box. But the pointer does not do that.

Simply moving the mouse pointer to a dialog box like the Search on this page doesn't change the focus from this page to that dialog box, quite a common thing in Windows, also in Linux and iMac, gets the action to where it is needed. It's not quite the same as hovering the mouse over a clickable link or button to get a pop-up/pop-down message. Some programs may be able to do it.

I do not disagree with what you are saying. What I am saying, in my experience, is that the pointer should not disappear when you hover it over a text box. It should either stay a pointer or become an I beam, instead of disappearing all together.

That is a different situation, have never run into it. On mine with the Search box above there's a very fine point between the mouse pointer being over the magnifying glass symbol and the S on Search where the pointer changes to the I. Maybe something due to the Font in use if not the default/System Font or the Display/Screen Resolution.

After yesterday's Windows updates I am now up to Build 22621.819, and the pointer is still behaving the same in the browser.

I have never changed the system font. The screen resolution is at the recommended 1920 x 1080. I have the scale set to 125% and have tried it at 100% with no change to the issue. I tried a different mouse pointer scheme, but that does not help either.

I have tried it in Chrome straight out the box with no setting changes, and it does the same thing.
