This tutorial on the Win 10 forum explains how to do it.

Is this still a good fix for 11?

Yeah, I know you can just pin the libraries to the Quick Access, but... Quick access entries don't get the arrows to expand or collapse the tree (> and down arrow) like a regular library entry does. I find it aggravating to have to double click repeatedly to drill down to something.

Seems to me Quick Access has been changed to Home. Either way, Properties of those items will show they are shortcuts to the actual folders that are in C:\Users\USER_NAME_HERE.

Is this what you want to do?
Nope.
I want libraries to be located above This PC in the pane, not embedded in it. Like in Win 7 Explorer.

I know of no way to do this natively. You can always use a file explorer alternative. One such is explorer++ which is a standalone app. Not exactly what you want but folders in left pane are expandable.

You would have to use a 3rd party app, such as WinaeroTweaker, to add custom shell locations to the navigation pane...

@Brink Does this fix from the Ten Forum also work on 11?

I haven't tested it yet in Windows 11. I'll add that to my list today.

However, I'm not sure it will with the new File Explorer in Windows 11.

Adding to what glasskuter offered, there is the File Manager from Win3.x
