I think @Edwin posted something about this in one of the threads in the Chillout Room, but it would be difficult to find. Maybe he can weigh in on it. Personally, I liked 2019 more, but there was little difference that I recall.

The upper one is 2019, the lower one is 2021.

Thanks, not much difference. I got the one year trail 2021 but I deleted it.

Mine are both Office Home & Student - 'One time purchase'.
Kinda bummed out that there was nothing spectacularly new in the 2021 version!
Oh well..., one of my kids can probably use it! 🤷‍♂️

I own (one time purchases) of Office Pro Plus 2016, 2019 & 2021 installed on my various machines and switching between them for what the average home user needs, there is NO real differences (except appearance) IMO to achieve the majority of tasks needed.

I purchased both 2016 and 2019 originally through the Microsoft HUP through my eligible employment. 2021 prices vary greatly depending where you live, currently it is about AU $600 through Mircosoft Store. The only suggestion I can make is research and be VERY careful of some of the sites offering genuine programs for ridiculously low prices. IMO if it looks too good to be true, then it is buyer be aware.

Amazon has both versions. Just make sure you are buying authentic MS Office. I agree with @Edwin. Home and Student has everything most people use. Word is all I use and I'm embarrassed to admit it to all the big spenders here but it's an old 2007 Enterprise version. It hasn't been supported for a long time, but I'll ride that old horse as long as it continues to work.
If you don't want to spend the money OpenOffice is free and is 100% compatible with any file created in MS Office. It a really good substitute. If you need to send files to someone using Microsoft Office, save your file first in the native OpenOffice.org format, then save it to one of the many supported Microsoft Office formats.

MS Off Home and Student are fine........where to purchase from?
I too still use MS OFF 2007 Enterprise on my other machine, serves me well and fulfill my needs!

Thanks.

I'm embarrassed to admit it to all the big spenders here but it's an old 2007 Enterprise version...

My only copies of MS Office are ones that came on used PCs I have bought. I have Office Professional 2003, Office 2007 and the free Office Starter 2010 that some OEMs used to include in their Windows 7 bundle. That last one I now have running in W11 on my System One, a machine that can trace its OS upgrade history back to an old 2011 model Toshiba laptop with an OEM Windows 7.

...If you don't want to spend the money OpenOffice is free and is 100% compatible with any file created in MS Office.

I prefer the LibreOffice version, a fork from OpenOffice that was started when OpenOffice looked destined to die out. All the best developers moved over to working on LibreOffice and it seems to be better supported than OpenOffice these days.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
