multi desktop

Hi,
I didn't know whether to put it here or in the software and applications section.

Anyway I wanted to know if there is a way to have more desks.

That is, for each desk its icons (except those in common such as the trash can etc.)

You can indeed have multiple virtual desktops in Windows 11, and switch between them via Task View.

I was actually referring to different icons. When I work on a project I use certain icons, for another project I have other icons, etc. Except my desktop fills up fast and it's all confused. How do you do?

You could have a separate virtual desktop for each project to help with that.

This way you can switch between the desktops each with icons for a specific project.

I made the two desktops but the icons are the same, if I move them to one desktop I find them moved to the other too. Do you know how to do it? I can not do it.

I'm not sure if Windows can generate truly isolated virtual desktops natively.

Sorry about that. The virtual desktops only apply to open apps and windows, and not icons on the desktop.

I find Stardock's Fences to be terrific. You can create windows that drop down and put any icon you like into them.


Here's what mine looks like:

I expanded the "Temp Files" window so you can see that I have one file in there. I have it set that all created or downloaded files go into my Temp Files window. I then move it if I need too.

Fences is a great tool!
My only problem is, it borks QTTabBar!!!

I'm unfamiliar with that application, so I researched it a bit. It does look like a great application. I think I'd have to see it in action to fully understand what it can do. With regards to it not really working with Fences, I guess there are tradeoffs with everything.

Many are led to believe that QTTabBar is an enhanced File Manager, but it's not, really...,
... it's more of an Explorer shell enhancement utility.

it is possible save dektop icons position ? wihtout any tools? esample via script powershell or other?

I can't get this to work with QTTabBar!
The 'Fences' act more like curtains..., QTTabBar identifies what's under them on mouse hover!
(Hey..., there's a full tutorial in that screen shot for ya!)

I wanted to say that a free software would be better, I would not want to spend money.

Then don't spend the money . What you have to understand is that not everyone will make something for free that does what you want it to. So, you might not find what you're looking for.

I had already searched around and found only multi desktop fences. However I have tried 3 or 4 of those software and unfortunately none of them do multi desktop.
