Multi desktops on single monitor laptop

I noticed that I am now on Windows 11 Home after an update (Insider update).

I have clicked on the plus and created a second desktop. I have even renamed one.
Both my original and newly desktops are exactly the same. If I create a shortcut on one, it automatically appears on the second.
How can I customise them to be different?

I want to make one for work and one for entertainment.

In Windows 10 & 11, you can have different apps open in different Virtual Desktops .

In Windows 11 only, you can also customise different Wallpapers, in each Virtual Desktop.

Currently, that is all the level of customisation Windows will permit.

If I understand it correctly, Windows 11 is supposed to be like a cell phone with several pages (desktop pages, a on my iPad as well). On my pc, I cannot change one destop page to anything different than the first page.

On my cell phone and iPad, I can, and on the tutorials on youtube, the people can, but not me.

What can be the cause?

Not quite sure what video tutorials you are referring to. Can you do these:

If you press Win key + CTRL key + D simultaneously, that should generate new Virtual Desktops (without switching out of current desktop).
And, if you press either Win key + CTRL key + Right Arrow or Win key + CTRL key + Left Arrow key combinations, that will switch between the next or previous Virtual Desktop.

Can you replicate those actions and results on your computer?

Also try this:
Open one or several applications and folders in one Virtual Desktop, then switch to a different Virtual Desktop using the key combinations mentioned above - does the contents of the desktops change when you switch?

If you are still experiencing the same issue, then you might like to create a new user profile, and see if you can replicate the desired actions in the newly created user profile.

Over here, with only single vDesktop (confirmed by WIN + TAB), pressing WIN + CTRL + D creates a new vDesktop and switchess to it immediately.

Additionally, as mentioned, WIN + TAB acts like ALT + TAB for vDesktops.

I tested it by hitting WIN + CTRL + D a couple of times, then I created a folder on the desktop I was on - and the folder was on every vDesktop..

However, only the initial vDesktop had the Fireofx window open with this thread, it did not appear on other vDesktops.

Maybe that confirms the O.P. own observations in the question?

It does. Items placed on the DT propogate to al DTs. But apps running are localized. And, apparently, as you mentioed, DTWPs should be as well.
