Windows 11
I just upgraded from 10PRO to 11 today. If I click on the lower left task bar, a pop-up window says Microsoft needs to verify its me. I enter my security code number and it says it sent an email to a .net account with my email address which is .com at the end. If I try to "correct" it in the window it says that the .com address is not available???
But its me. If I go to Microsoft and log in,all is normal and my address is correct.
What gives.? How do I correct the .net mistake?

Welcome to the forum. If you are referring that your verification email is set up wrong in your MS account, you can change it. See if this article is of any help. I also suggest that you have a phone number as a verification method as well.

This is still a problem I cannot correct. No matter what I add too,or change at Microsoft, if I try to add a photo to the start-up cartoon disk, it always ask to verify via a code sent to a .net address. NONE of my email address have a .net at Microsoft or anywhere else.
If I try to "correct" it in the window field I get "This address is not available" An endless loop of uselessness.
My Address is .com at my Microsoft account.
How in the wide, wide world dose one correct this incorrect .net address?

I don't have a solution to your current problem, but you can go back to Windows 10 for the first 10 days after upgrading to Windows 11. The link below provides instructions for downgrading if you decide to implement that option.

Of course, my solution will only work provided everything was functional prior to upgrading.

There are several ways to can try to correct this without a clean install. It requires crating a new account. Since you are not verified it may not let you, but try these solutions in order. Once you get one solution to work STOP.
First backup any personal files that are important to you. COPY files from your old account and PASTE to a flash drive or external hard drive.

Solution #1 Create a new local user account as administrator

  1. Select Start > Settings > Accounts and then select Family & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)
  2. Next to Add other user, select Add account.
  3. Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
  4. Enter a user name, password, or password hint—or choose security questions—and then select Next.

Then change the new local user account to an administrator account
Select Start > Settings > Accounts .
  1. Under Family & other users, select the account owner name (you should see "Local account" below the name), then select Change account type.

Under Account type, select Administrator, and then select OK.

  2. Sign out of your account and sign into the new account.

Solution #2 Enable hidden administrator account from command prompt
1. Open command prompt as administrator and type net user administrator /active:yes
2. Sign out of your account and sign in with the new administrator account. Once you are signed in, go back to Solution #1 and create a new local administrator account.

Solution #3 Enable Hidden Administrator account using installation media

Remove installation media and reboot Windows. Signin to hidden administrator account. Once you are signed in, go back to Solution #1 and create a new local administrator account. Log out of hidden administrator account and log in to newly created local account.

Once you have created a new local administrator account using any of these methods, COPY and PASTE your files into the new user account. If you want to change to a MS Account using your CORRECT email address you can go to settings-accounts and click change to Microsoft Account.

Once your new account is like you want it to be, delete the old account. Also disable the hidden administrator account by opening command prompt as administrator and typing net user administrator /active:no

If none of these work, you will need to do a clean install of Windows. Clean Install Windows 11 Clean Install Windows 11 Tutorial

Have you checked your verification email settings as Glasskuter advised?

Log in to your Outlook account online with your browser then paste this into the browser address bar
https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional
to get to the page where you'll be able to add new verification methods and delete obsolete ones.
