Just finished building a new system (specs listed in My Computer link) and got Win 11 Home installed. When Windows Update runs it launches MSI Driver Utility Installer with a whole list of things it wants to update. I don't want to contaminate a new system with a bunch of unnecessary junk so I'm wondering what I should ignore.
Intel Chipset Driver
Intel SVGA Drivers
Intel WIFI Driver
BlueTooth Driver

Why would you want to ignore the manufacturers software designed to make your system work properly?
I would not ignore any of those updates as they probably improve system stability and security, the same drivers but older are likely provided by MS as most manufacturers submit drivers to MS for distribution through Windows update.
If you really want to preserve your current install then maybe use an imaging program to create a backup of the system first as at some point you will end up with updates anyway.

Sorry, @DigitalGoat, had a glitch and didn't realize this posted...thought it got lost so I re-posted a similar thread. I agree the drivers listing in this partial post seem important, but there's a lot more stuff on the list in my full post.

Admins please delete as necessary.

Ok, well I can't seem to find your other post, but I would say that any drivers are worth updating from the manufacturer of any hardware, but other stuff like apps and utilities for RGB control, monitoring apps etc. basically any thing non essential can be ignored, unless you want them.
I still stand by my recommendation to make use of imaging software to make a 'golden image' then make other images as you start installing software for work, play, trials and Windows cumulative updates, that way if at any point something screws up your install you can restore an image and be back to before the incident within minutes.

@DigitalGoat, thanks for the advice. I think maybe I'll give the imaging a try. Never messed with that before, but I see the value.

@dmlrobot there are several good apps available, some paid, some free. Macrium Reflect is currently free for home use and is used by a lot of these forum members.
There are several really good tutorials here as well for Macrium, although most other imaging/ cloning/ backup apps have similar functionality, just check the tutorial link in the page headers.

Drivers are *not* unnecessary, people are far too paranoid about 'contaminating' their Windows installs.

While I in principle agree with this statement it is also the case that updating drivers for the sake of it can also cause issues and loss of functionality, some times an older driver can be much more suitable, reliable and compatible than a newer one.
The OP's question was about updating drivers from Windows supplied ones to hardware manufacturer supplied ones.

Yes, always use the manufacturer's drivers where possible, I do agree with that

Is that utility the same as "MSI Driver & APP Center" - which you can find on Microsoft Store?

If so, you can select the "Driver" tab - which displays only the Drivers.

And NO, you're not suppose to install ALL the available drivers either. For example... "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver" - is pointless if you're not running a RAID config or Intel Optane. Which obviously most people don't need/use. Yet, those rare cases - where some people actually have a RAID config - this driver might be necessary to be integrated prior to a Windows install (or at least that used be the case - even for Windows 10, not sure if 11 finally has this drivers included from the get go) - or else you be able to install Windows.

As for the rest: The GPU (Video Card) drivers in particular - i would recommended using the ones released by the manufacturer (be it Intel, nVidia or AMD). Should work even with the OEM GPU drivers - but it's a well known fact - the OEM drivers are usually outdated or you'll get to that point if using recently released hardware (thus, there's around 1 year window - when they still try to fix some issues). I've seen cases where the OEM drivers were actually broken - and even tho the GPU Manufacturer released a fixed version - the OEM didn't bother to release another update. If you're to contact support - they'll recommend you the same thing (to download from Intel, nVidia or AMD). Same can be said about Lan, Wireless or Bluetooth drivers.

Other than that - personally i never got to use the Card Reader - but still installed the driver cause was annoyed by its visible absence in Device Manager. :)

I found out the MSI Driver Utility Installer is something that runs only once after Windows is installed. However, I also found out that MSI Center (a utility download from MSI) also has the driver update capability. I ended up installing most of the drivers and everything seems to be running smoothly. Guess I'll periodically check for updates.
