Netflix app rolling out new mobile experience

 Netflix News:

Whether you’re on your lunch break, commuting, or waiting for your next flight, Netflix on your phone is always with you. Now, we’re taking an exciting first step towards evolving mobile for members. We’re rolling out a new mobile experience that makes it faster, easier, and more fun to find something you’ll love to watch, listen to, or play.

Last year, we updated our TV experience for the first time in more than a decade. Now we’re bringing that same focus on simplicity and delight to mobile. The new design puts what you care about front and center, with streamlined navigation and a visual, vertical discovery experience that feels right at home on your phone.

We’re also introducing ‘Clips,’ our new vertical video feed designed for the way you actually use your phone: quick, visual, and easy to tap into something that catches your eye. Think of ‘Clips’ as a personalized highlight reel that helps you decide what to watch or play next, without endless scrolling. You’ll see short clips from series, films and specials tailored to your tastes, with an easy way to go deeper when something grabs your attention.

We’ve built ‘Clips’ to do more than just entertain you; it’s designed to help you quickly turn discovery into action:
  • Add to ‘My List’: See something you like? Add movies and shows straight to your list from the feed.
  • Share: Want to relive that long-awaited kiss, look for clues behind that OMG twist, or turn a friend onto your favorite comfort watch? Use the arrow at the bottom to share recommendations to your friends and followers via text or social media directly from the feed.
  • Explore: Planning a family movie night? Or just need a good laugh? Browse a world of entertainment personalized to help you decide what to press play on next.

‘Clips’ collections, which we will be testing soon.

In the future, we’ll expand ‘Clips’ to include podcasts, live programming and collections based on genres, like romance or specific interests, so you have even more choices at your fingertips.

“Mobile is an important part of how Netflix members stay connected to the entertainment they love. With our enhanced navigation and Clips, our new vertical video feed, we’re building on past learnings to deliver an experience designed for the way members want to enjoy Netflix on their phones: for the moments in between, to discover a new title, or a quick laugh. Our vision is to make our mobile experience as entertaining as what you watch, delivering increasingly personalized, immersive experiences for any mood or moment. This is just the beginning.” — Elizabeth Stone, Netflix’s Chief Product and Technology Officer

These updates are available starting today in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa, and will roll out to the rest of the world in the months to come. This is just the beginning of what we’re building on mobile. Our goal is to create a truly great entertainment experience on your phone, for every way you like to watch, listen and play.

So what are you waiting for? Open Netflix on your phone. Your next favorite is just a tap away.
