Hi All,

My first question after register this form :).
Network Drive Icons won't refresh after mounting them.

Photo 1 icons on the desktop (looks not ok)

Photo 2 Mounted drive in explorer my PC (looks oke)

photo2.jpg

As you can see the icons on my desktop won't refresh after mounting them.
How can i solve that the icons on my desktop are the same as the icons in my pc screen.

Tip!
After a (long) while the icons will change on my desktop, but i want them to change straight away after the mount

I already used a script like that:

the point is when i startup my computer no drive is mounted, i only mount the drives when needed with a vb script.
in your script the pc will reboot after running the actions needed. In my case this won't work.
is there any other solution.

The computer needs to restart for the icon cache to rebuild itself. You can also run the script and restart File Explorer (explorer.exe) from Task Manager.

You don't have to place exit command, batch script ask you if you want to reboot typing N will exit the batch script or you can close the batch script when ask to reboot.

When the icons change state in explorer, what happens if you go to your desktop and do a simple F5? Anything?

This might sound like a weird thing to do but try this. Completely remove all your drive shortcuts from the desktop temporarily. Run the batch file to reset icon cache. Restart. Then mount just one drive and make a shortcut on your desktop while it is in mounted state. Unmount it to see if it changes to unmounted on desktop. If it does remount it and check state again.

If that doesn't work, it might be worth your time to enable the hidden administrator account to test if this issue is system wide or only in your account. From administrative command prompt type net user administrator /active:yes and enter (note the space after administrator)
Log out of your account and into the administrator account. Make a desktop shortcut and test if issue is in that account as well. If it works as it is supposed to there, then there is some sort of corruption in your account

When you are through testing in the administrator account, log out and log back into your account and disable the administrator account by opening administrative command prompt and typing net user administrator /active:no

BAD IDEA!!!
This hidden account is not meant to be used all the time. It is hidden for a reason and should only be used to troubleshoot problems in the OS and as an alternate means to give a user access to the system when his own account fails.

Are you sure you're using the hidden account named Administrator rather than one with administrative privileges? If you indeed are then to test my theory you would have to make another account to test.
