My daughter is considering buying an All In One desktop and we are looking at AMD Ryzen processors. The machine is for university work etc and would not be used for gaming. The current AMD processors from both HP and Dell are the AMD Ryzen 5 5625U. Does anyone know if AMD have, or will, release upgraded Ryzen processors for everyday use on desktop PC's and if there is any time frame, as she could wait until the next version is available.
We would appreciate any advice.
Mitch.

The 7000 series chips are already available from AMD. I'm not aware of any timeframe as to when pre-built machines might have these chips however. I can see they have boxes listed as "gaming computers" in retail channels that have the 7000 series chips today.

I noticed this post . I expect it would be several months before the new AMD Processors were available in pre built machines. We will watch out for them. Thanks for your help.

The Ryzen 5 5625U is a laptop part. Desktop all-in-one PCs typically use laptop parts is a desktop package.

The first laptops with the new Ryzen 7000 series CPUs are supposed to ship in February (2023). I don't know how long it'll take for the all-in-ones to appear.

It's unclear to me as to whether they'd be worth waiting for, or whether they'd be significantly more expensive than the current 5000 series machines. (The 7000 series requires DDR5 memory, which is typically more expensive than the DDR4 used by the 5000 and older series.)

The Ryzen 7 and 9 7000 series desktop CPUs, for high-end systems, are already available. Dell offers a couple of fairly expensive Alienware gaming PCs that use them. Not what you're looking for, in price, all-in-one ness, or appearance.

Thanks for your reply. Might not be worth waiting for given probable increase in price and delays. Thanks again.
Mitch.
