Hi everyone thanks very much for taking the time to look at my post I’m having an issue with 1 game specifically that game is escape from Tarkov, here’s the story below.

I Got a new PC about 5 weeks ago as my old system was 6 1/2 years old so got a new system custom built and specced for me and sent out. I proceeded to Install all my games and so on, all other games run fine with no issues at all. BF2042 max settings 1440p more than playabale and that’s supposedly badly optimised at the moment. Anyway back to escape from Tarkov.

So far I’ve Spent hours trying to fix it. Probably about 30hrs, I select the closest servers to me in the launcher and all with a ping of 60 and below, AI characters, and both player scavs and player pmcs jitter for me although not always this severe but it has made playing the game very difficult. Below is footage of how every raid runs for me

Attempted Fixes/things I’ve tried so far.

Multiple performance tweaks on YouTube/regedits with performance/stutter improvements in windows for escape from Tarkov and for windows 11 gaming in general.

Tested for packet loss 0% loss.

Tested connection directly to the server I was in during an online game 0 network issues, packet loss etc

Speed test consistently shows 550mbs download, 100mb upload, 16ms ping

Tried various different refresh rates in my screen from 60-165hz still the same.

Messed around with unlocking and capping the games frame rates and refresh rates.

Tried lowering the graphical settings and other settings just to see how it affected the game in terms of players/AI players. No change what do ever.

FPS is always above 90-140 .

Complete uninstall of Tarkov and the launcher, manually deleting all traces of the games folders left behind, and reinstalling.

Uninstalling GeForce experience.

Driver roll backs to previous nvidia drivers.

Changeing the Volume of the page file moving it to a different SSD and tried even disabling page files on windows.

Uninstalling unnecessary software like LED fan software, ram LED software, motherboard LED software

Tried a different network connection completely to rule out any fault with mines showed no change what so ever.

Tried using gaming software called exitlag which is meant to improve connection online for games made absolutely no difference.

Tried disabling hyper threading in bios.

XMP profile is enabled

Updated the BIOS

Tried disabling the 4 E cores on my cpu so that when specifically Tarkov was running it purely used the P cores.

New modem out the box.

Disabled windows firewall completely

Left my modem offline for 24hrs and re connected and powered up to hopefully get a fresh line.

The system shipped with windows 11 on it I reverted back to windows 10 purely for test purposes. No change so have now went back to windows 11.

Every other game works fine, it is just Tarkov, this was never ever an issue in the 2 1/2 years of playing Tarkov on my old system so how is it an issue now? None of my friends have the issue either just me, I’m seriously leaning toward some sort of hardware issue/conflict but where? And how do I figure out if so? My old is pc is sold that rules out testing that.

Pc specs are:
MSI gaming x trio RTX 3080
Intel i7 12700k
Gigabyte Z690 UD motherboard
NZXT Kraken X53
Crucial ballistix 3200mhz 32GB ram
2x crucial P2 1tb M.2 drives
PSU : Seasonic focus 850w 80 plus gold

I think I’ve covered everything I’ve tried to fix this issue but it no avail. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please share them cause I will try them.

:(

I had a similar problem with a very old game UT2004... I had random screen freeze (1 second pauses). I fixed my problem but I did several things so I dont know which one was the cure. But here is what I did.

- Added exception in Windows Defender to excluded the game folder and executable
- Removed the indexing option for the game folder so it does not get indexed for searching
- Updated the Intel storage driver

This is the most important action, which helps in many similar cases. Also I suggest to review the background processes (Task Manager > Startup) and disable all non-essential. Remove any external storage devices which may be checked by OS time to time. Defragmenting a swap file also helps a lot, if it's on HDD; if on SSD, simply delete it after booting from USB and it will be re-created anew after first normal start.

Don't forget to check Game Mode setting (Settings > Gaming > Game Mode). Also you may switch off the Memory integrity, if it's still exists (Windows Security > Core isolation > Memory integrity off).

Right click on the folder where the game is installed (in Explorer) and select "Properties". Click the Advanced button. In the Advanced dialog uncheck "Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed..." Click Ok. Then back in the Properties window, click Apply. A window appears. Select the option to "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files".

It looks like the game on your PC is experiencing a kind of regular performance bottleneck from not yet known source. I'd suggest to perform some profiling. First, set the game screen in windowed mode (if you have only one display). Open the Task Manager and look at most loaded object among diagrams in Performance (CPU, memory, disks...). Try to catch which component is used by 100% time to time or all the time. Then you can look at it more attentively in the Resource Monitor (link on the bottom in Task Manager). It needs more place on the screen, but you can place it behind the game and look at diagrams periodically. I hope this will help you notice some problems.

Hi thanks for the reply I have no idea how a bottleneck can appear on such a high end system though? Is that possible with the system I have? Bearing in mind I played the same game on a 6 year old system

Have you checked the OEM sites for all your installed devices to see if they have updated drivers? The drivers from Windows update are not always the best drivers.

It doesn't matter how high performance your system has, it can be a specific incompatibility of new hardware/drivers or a specific code in your game. You may have read that some games are incompatible with Alder Lake, mostly because of incompatibility in DRM protection code (now fixed), some by other reasons (cannot properly detect this new CPU or CPU performance is too high for some internal cycles). The prominent example is SWTOR, where the game launcher cannot start on any system with Alder Lake.

If your problem is rooted in graphic incompatibility, you can notice this after changing the ingame graphic options to minimum, specifically reducing field of vision (FoV) and disabling the shadows, because possible bug in shadow calculation may greatly reduce the graphic performance. The same is for sound, changing the sound effects to minimum or temporarily disabling all sounds may help if the problem is in sound driver or corresponding game API. Bugs with input devices are more hard to mitigate, but they are rare. Such things as excessive usage of swap file can be traced only by profiling, I noted about this above.

Could the problem be on their end?
this is what a lot of people are saying to me BUT surely if it was their end friends would be getting the same issue? they sometimes say its lagging BUT its very minor.... mines is not minor I would say that is pretty major lag :S been testing it more through out the day and I have noticed sometimes its worse than others.... sometimes its non existent pretty much I can finish that game go into the next and its bad which would suggest to me its their servers, but then how come mines is worse than everyone elses :S this is what I do not understand how can it be worse than me than for anyone else.
