Win 11 x 64 Home on PC . Pro Win 10 x 64 on Surface 5.
I am investigating a new pc which will come with Win 11 (I can change in to 10 home or pro) custom built. But now maybe is the time to ask,

1. Win 11 - is it going to be worth it, all I have heard is negative
2. Can my games I have now play on win 11 eg: Silent Hunter 4 (2007); Fallout 4; Age of Empires HD (Steam) 2013; several other steam games too. Far Cry 2; Darkstar One, Discovery 487 mod(base software Freelander 2003)
3. If I choose not to go to 11, how long will Win 10 be expected to be supported?

Windows 11 Home - 22H2
I and many others here are not having any issues using 11.. it just works and the only issues might be with things like the taskbar usage. Other than that I for one am happy with it.

As for games....... all of mine work just fine.. oh and 10 will be support for at least 4 more years
HTH and have a nice day

11 works well for me. I've used some of the tweaks @Ghot posted to fix a few of the irritations. One or two niggles remain but not annoying enough for me to bin it. 10 is going to be supported for a good while, but it won't get the same development that they will lavish on the newborn.

Windows 11 Pro
IMO
1. Windows 11 is better than 10 ( there is always negativity about a new OS )
2. Pretty much all software that worked on 10 will work on 11, games are fine, Steam is no different between the 10 and 11
3. MS say support until 2025 but if their is demand it go on longer, look at Win 7 for example.

I have upgraded 4 machines from 10 to 11 and have had no problems. I think win 11 is the way to go

Windows 11 22H2 OS Build 22623.1095
No problems with 11 or games, everything that worked in 10 works in 11 with no intervention from me.

Just in case....... There is an issue with Intel Gen12 CPUs and game DRM in both 10 and 11, if you are contemplating an Intel 12th gen system. List of Games Affected by DRM Issue in 12th Gen Intel®...

Windows 11 Pro build 10.0.25314.1010 (Canary Channel)
Neither OS version is better than the other. They're just different.

Windows 11 plays games a bit faster and has much better storage performance compared to Windows 10.

Windows 11 has also some features removed that exist in Windows 10.

Windows 11 is still full of bugs, as any major OS release during first year. Most bugs you won't even notice. Windows 10 was the same, although 11 has much less bugs compared to initial 10 release. They're after all almost identical under the hood.

You'll be fine with either OS.

1. Win 11 - is it going to be worth it, all I have heard is negative
Just curios, how many negative reports have you heard? One source indicates that of the 80,000 computers they surveyed, 4.8% were Windows 11. So that is 3,840 Windows 11 right there. But let's put that in perspective. Another source says that 49.8 million notebooks with Windows were shipped in just the first quarter of 2021. That is only 3 months and it is only notebook computers, not even counting desktops. So, if the 4,8% holds true, that is another 230,400 Windows 11 just on notebooks sold in the first 3 months of 2021. So, out of a very tiny percentage of total Windows computers out there we already have 234,000 Windows 11 users. How many users have you heard complain about Windows 11? And you have to remember, your standard user is not going to subscribe to an internet forum to express how great their computer or OS is.....they are just going to use it.

I have been using Win 11 ever since the unofficial build was released. So far, I haven't seen any reason to roll back to Win 10.

Win 11 x 64 Home on PC . Pro Win 10 x 64 on Surface 5.
I think my main fear is whether or not the games I have (a lot) will run on it. I have read here that 'some' items of Win 10 have been removed. They range from simpe puzzle games to Silent Hunter 4 (2007) and Fallout 4, oh and a Freelancer based modded game original date 2003.

Windows 11 (Pro)

Get it with windows 10 use macruim for a copy (in case you want to go back to ten for some reason), upgrade to 11 (it is already windows 11 ready) then you have the choice of both.
