Flyby11 is a simple patcher that removes the annoying restrictions preventing you from installing Windows 11 (24H2) on unsupported hardware. Got an old PC? No TPM, Secure Boot, or your processor isn't supported? Flyby11 lets you install Windows 11 24H2 anyway.

Flyby11 leverages a feature of the Windows 11 setup process that uses the Windows Server variant of the installation. This variant, unlike the regular Windows 11 setup, skips most hardware compatibility checks, allowing it to run on unsupported systems.

I'm increasingly coming round to the idea that if your hardware isn't W11 compliant then just install in a VM where the Virtual hardware can usually paravirtualize the required hardware such as a "Virtual TPM" via emulation and even some types of compliant CPU's.

Otherwise unless you really MUST have W11 on real hardware - then just get some new hardware --if you've a spare monitor / keyboard simply get those really cheap MiniPC's -- now for as low as around €180 with "Black Friday" and other offers around -- you can also add loads of HDD's to these via external USB caddies etc. These also have sometimes 3X Video ports with 4K UHD video resolution too.

I'd imagine if you are a gamer - then playing games on a working computer is probably more important than thinking about whatever OS they games are running on.

I've replace 2X old servers and 1 desk top with these mini machines and have not beebn disappointed in the slightest. I haven't even used a laptop now for ages -- and these machines are so noiseless too.

There seems very little discussion of these incredible boxes to date - it's quite amazing as these are capable of great performance for doing stuff around 90% of what most Windows users do or need.

Not ideal for everybody -- but I'd bet for a really huge number of people.

I'm posting this from a Linux VM running under HYPER-V from the latest Canary Windows install and performance even on the VM is outstanding

Had a look at it. No doubt this coder will get a lot of feedback and it will get polished, until then I think I like Rufus.

That is only in the preview version, not the official version.

That is what I do now - I simply patch my ISO images in two ways:

1) I set the registry entries for the boot.wim that bypasses Windows 11 system requirements. This affects clean installations only.

2) For upgrade installs, I have marked the images as "Server".

This is super-fast and easy, and I have it scripted so that I don't even have to think about it. So now I can install on supported or unsupported hardware without ever doing a single thing differently. The only exception, of course, is that this won't help with CPUs not supporting POPCNT (SSE4.2).

Here is what I would be curious about: Maybe issuing the command that includes "product server" does not work, but if you actually mark the images as being of type server, I wonder if that would work.

I guess there is only one way to find out. I'll have to download it and try it.

Rats. I wanted to try this with a 27686 build but I cannot seem to find any such builds. I found one single build in that series via UUP but it throws errors when I try to download it.

Anyone know where I can get a build in that series?

If MS blocks the "product server" method, then we use the Rufus method, which by the way is from the My Digital Life Forums.

This also works on Insider Preview 27686+ where neither "X:\setup.exe /product server" nor "X:\sources\setupprep.exe /product server" work.

For in-place upgrades, you need to run the following from an elevated command prompt before running setup.exe (credits to Win 11 Boot And Upgrade FiX KiT):

Latest Canary (insider build) : (seems to work OK too) - Snipping tool also works in this build.OK I'm using Iot Enterprise but build number is the same.

The TPM checks are optional with the IoT versions, and the allowed CPU list is more inclusive.

Hi there
I was just giving out the version number -- appreciate that possibly Enterprise / Iot versions might (and probably) should be less restrictive -- businesses tend to update hardware - especially at the client (i.e user level) far less frequently than home / domestic users --I'm sure many here have experienced having to use hardware at work which is much older / performs hugely horribly compared to what they have back home.

Taking into account so many possible complications - the author of Rufus - said he doesn't intend to go on this path:

In many ways Rufus already functions like a malware - using malware inspired tricks - as admitted by the author:

A bit surprising that was never tagged by any AV. Anyway, if extra security (coming from a longer support for Windows Updates) - is the main reason one would force a Windows build - which goes against not a recommendation, but official statement from Microsoft regarding unsupported hardware - while build 24H2 is proof that they're actually serious about it, then... this situation truly fits the proverbial "beating on a dead horse (to waste effort on something when there is no chance of succeeding)" For one thing... some of this feature updates - will actually sabotage your particular system. Thus, you better get used to BSOD - cause this may become the norm - and same goes for the wasted time trying to find "yet another workaround" - which could be the very thing that's actually making your system more vulnerable.
