Hi Friends.
I just got W11 and I am trying to make sure it is secure. My system has a Thunderbolt port and I just got hit. It appears as if they were able to use my systems HV and "print server" against me to take over the system. They had tried to overclock the processer and cut off the fans as well. I had a nightmare scenario worse than this several years ago (again due to Thunderbolt) and I tried moving to get away from it. It did not work. It took them two days. I eventually got into the system files and added my own 6 page letter in a desperate attempt. I told what I thought was going on but did not understand how they could access the system without internet. I had done that on a Friday night. Tuesday I awoke to a new folder on my desktop. It was a bit less than 100 pages. It was from a corporate server. The guy said I freaked them out because I should not have been able to do that. He had read where I got the system from so he understood I got something I was not supposed to have. Anyway he told me about the Thunderbolt issue then and said my computer had a chip on the board tied to the port that allowed for a satellite/cellular data channel. All of that 6 months was not pleasant.

My current system does not have the chip (I hope) but as I stated I have been hit anyway. I suspect it may be within the apartment complex due to some BT signals I picked up that were very strong and active when my crap is going on. People messing with me makes me want to take ownership of everything but as I learned, that does not work. Hell, I told them they had no testicles and needed come over and talk and they installed Skype right then back onto my system. I have no time to play around. Anyway if anyone has any ideas for assistance it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry it's under these circumstances. From what I can gather from what you wrote and sincee this has happened twice on 2 systems, it would seem to me this hack is at your network level., possibly through your router firmware. At least that's the way I would approach it.

Others may have a different idea, but if it were me, despite the cost and time, I would take no chances. I would start at the beginning and build everything new from the ground up, starting with the router. I wouldn't trust that router with a 10 foot pole.
I would disconnect all devices connected to the network, shut that network down, and purchase a new router. Since any/all other devices on your old network could be infected with a back door, use another device that has never been connected to this network to set up your new router.
Borrow a device if you have to. Make sure you change the router admin password to something other than its default.
Make sure you have the new router updated to the latest manufacturer firmware.

UUsing someone else's computer and network create windows installation media to do a clean install.

Offline, clean install windows using a local account.. Prior to doing so, at your own risk you can back up your files, but if it were me unless I had copies of them elsewhere made before the initial hack, I wouldn't trust them. I would cut my lossess. You have no idea what, if anything a hacker could have done with those files or what code may have been inserted into them. You can create a local account beginning at step 19 of the tutorial

If you suspect a hacker got into the system using bluetooth, I would disable bluetooth.

I would not bring any other windows device back online without dealing with them the same way as dealing with this one.

We have seen several other threads similar to this one. Take no chances. Don't trust your router or any other device on your network that hackers make have had access to whether you have seen indication those other devices have been attacked or not.

Update wireless printer firmware.
Make sure UEFI bios is up to date on all devices.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. I am currently doing my fourth reinstall this week. This last time I found my ports had been altered. The two main ones are now 135 and 445. They have also hidden my tabs that would allow me to access them. NetBios is also activated and hidden as well. I also found that my Windows update settings were altered to accept files from the local network and other computers. I did uninstall BT before trying again as well. I also found two other oddities. A keyboard filter was installed for reason. While in device manager I also got it to show other hidden items. I did a by container search and noticed it had a stand alone monitor listed. I had found one and was going to give it to a dude I know that messes around with old parts. I threw it away after pouring a half gallon of water in it.

I had noticed a few weeks ago that my system had more parts in it than I remembered but I blew it off at the time. I had a dozen or more HIDs, 4 sets of firmware, several thermal controls, a dozen virtual network adapters (I know some are normal but surely not that many) and other crap. The print server is being used to help them. Printers and USB control nodes keep popping back up as does the fax and one note. That reminds me. Am I supposed to have a virtual version of my computer existing in the printers page? I do not expect this reset to work either. They have had too long to set this up. I found where they had installed Azure terminal, Powershell 1.0 , Remote Desktop copies, and another Powershell looking thing I had not seen until recently that has even more power by coming with a lot of built in help.

While I suspect it is near me I realize it may not be. I did find a lot of foreign scripts recently added but that could be for cover. Whoever it is cut off my communication with Microsoft a few nights ago as well. When I tried to access their web page on my phone it started blinking on and off super fast. I have never tied my phone to my computer either. However my gmail would be able to link them. I will keep you updated. Hopefully I do not have to contact Federal people for this.

I am curious why a few people seem to be disbelieving or reluctant. Is it because this does not happen often or is it just too far gone to bother with?

You’re mentioning things like folders appearing on your desktop, skype being installed on your laptop regardless that you have no internet which you concluded was possibly due to Bluetooth. I’ve owned some pretty good laptops in my day but yours must of had the most powerful Bluetooth that I’ve ever heard of for it to be discoverable from other apartments in your building complex.
I am assuming that the perpetrator moved into the apartment next door so as to access your laptop. Do you work for the Gov, do you have national secrets that players wish to access?
What makes your laptop so special that one would want to go through so much trouble to access it?

You speak of waking up to find you have more components in your laptop than you remember having previously. Like someone snuck into your apartment whilst you slept and modified your motherboard?
All the while you’re communicating with these players through whatever means you mentioned. Satellite chips and Skype?
NetBios, altered ports, local network intrusions and or connections, foreign scripts etc etc etc ad nauseam

I am not saying you have this problem, but I had a friend who suffered from BiPolar/Borderline Paranoid Schizophrenia.
He started displaying warning signs, the most concerning was when I was asked to go see him and he had pulled apart his microwave oven and had placed the parts in a pattern of no particular order on the floor, but it was a pattern.

He told me he was being tracked, that messages were being transmitted into his brain. He held up a device (that looked like some sort of fuse) and told me he had found the tracker. Needless to say the microwave oven never worked again. I had to call his family who admitted him to hospital. They found he had stopped taking his medication. Mild doses of electro shock therapy was used and his medication tweaked.
This guy, God bless him, cut of his own thumb quite a few years ago using a tomahawk because he believed that when he had surgery on the knuckle, they placed a chip in his thumb. Cut it off at the knuckle, drove himself to hospital.

I have to ask, why do you still have this laptop?
You can contact “Federal” authorities if you like, but my guess is they’ll put you on a list and that’s the last you’ll hear about it. I don’t think it will be the list you would be expecting.

BUT… I believe that you believe this is happening. And with that I wish you all the best. Go and see a health specialist just for piece of mind.

Look, I understand your reluctance. I really wish those things had not happened. The last time cost me around $1000 and I even had acquaintances that thought the same thing you are thinking now. This time is not anywhere near that level yet. So far this reset is going well. You also have to realize that with each occurrence I am trying to give the most complete description possible without writing a book and it is possible all events were not from the same cause.. I am not sure. I asked a few forums for help last time and I got the same response you are giving or no response at all with the exception of two people that tried to help. I do not know how old you are but in life you will see that people that do not desire excitement are often the ones that run into it. I am 56 btw.

So much for that. I damn near had it secured completely before they got back in. I really hate to involve the Feds because I suspect its just some dumb kids this time but I have better things to do.

I am curious why a few people seem to be disbelieving or reluctant. Is it because this does not happen often or is it just too far gone to bother with?
You might be just too far gone

Maybe so but I am stubborn. Just for fun can we ask the moderator to check and see if anyone joined right after I did and if they commented? Whoever it is likes to play. Sackless but they like to play. I think I have tried warning them enough. If they could not get the hint by now then they might just be too far gone to help. I left them a little note and let them know I had a relative involved with catching people like them but I did not tell them he really does not want to come down here. He will if he must but until then I guess I am just evidence gathering. I would much rather someone confront me directly and squeak out whatever it is they have against me, I prefer to handle anything I can by myself and especially not drag authorities into petty stuff. I am not an irrational or violent person. I can stay calm in the nastiest of circumstances and that has served me well through the years. Hell, if they want to prove they are smart put it to better use than this and if they have a beef with me then borrow a spine and come visit me. Have a good night everyone.

Such is life. I noticed this time it had been overclocked again. I damn near had it completely set up as well. It was beautiful. I guess I am going to need to go to a friends house for a day or so to set it up. I am not positive I can shut down the print server, remove the remote desktop, set security on everything, encrypt it, and do 15 other things before they get ahold of it. This time I did find out that Windows 11 comes with some neat applications but unfortunately, they usually get ahold of them first. I have spoken with Microsoft and they offered assistance but I told them I wanted one more try. I guess that may have been it. If I go too much longer they will ruin it.

I just remembered I meant to respond to the one who had a crazy friend and the other skeptics. What do you want to prove it? Is there a program I can get ahold of that will do a thorough scan and reveal it for you. I have about 18 more hours to waste and if I can prove something and actually get some assistance it would be worth it.
