Windows 11
Greetings.
I'm normally using NordVPN, but after the latest update of Windows 11 (now Windows version 22000.132), NordVPN can't connect to anything. In devicemanager there is a fault
1629019491276.png

Sorry, my Windows is in Danish, but I have translated the danish text in google translate to english:
Devicestatus
Windows still configures the class configuration for this device (code 56)

I have uninstalled NordVPN completely, downloaded the newest version (NordVPN 6.38.15.0), and installed it with everything in standard settings. But the same error pops up when trying to connect to any server.

Anybody know what to do? (except going back to windows 10)??

I have had this a while since Win10 before Win 11 update so I blame a Nord Update.

I totally removed it and tried again and same issue.

Has the developer confirmed that the Windows 10 version is compatible with Windows 11? or have they issued a specific Windows 11 update or complete product?

It's quite often the case that a simple regular monthly update from Microsoft can cause issues with security programs - Windows 11 is still at the Development / Beta stage, not all software can be expected to work

Hi there

Nordvpn login

Nordvpn Version

Also enable Split tunnelling -- that way you can isolate apps from the VPN e.g e-mail via outlook or other apps that you don't need the VPN to hose up your "local server" - nordvpn as do some of the better VPN's allow this feature -- don't choose a VPN that doesn't have it. !!!

Thank you for info, Jimbo. Same version. Then I really don't know what is wrong. It worked before Windows patching tuesday, but not after. I'm not sure though if it stoped working right after windows updates.

@Burgurne

I'm not sure but there might be a Windows service that needs to be started / auto started -- if that's the case then the Windows update might have left it in "Stopped" state. I found that also with OPENSSH-Server (not needed BTW for Nordvpn !!).

Here's my Windows version

I suggest you re-install nordvpn == works perfectly on my machine.

I have tried severel times to uninstall and reinstall NordVPN, but the same error keeps popping up. I even tried to uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller to be sure to get all the reg.data out as well.

"NordVPN failed to turn on Nordlynx" as you can see in OP.

Nord as well as Surfshark VPNs had stopped working in the 22000.120 version in my case. Problem with their wireguard protocol, when I contacted Nord vpn via facebook, I was told that 'Windows 11 is still a beta release, so at present not supported, you can use the open-vpn protocol (which did work, but was slow in connecting)'.
But it works well when I did a fresh-install of 22000.132 version.

Okay, can you give a link to how to make an USB-installation key for windows 11 ver 22000.132? I'm a newbie on this, so I will like any help I can get.

And yes, just like others says, NordVPN is working very well. Thank you all for helping me with this, and push me to do a clean install . Whau, that was easy to get windows 11 up and running.

If you are using OpenVPN, it will work... if you are using NordLynx it is currently broken. Nord admits they need to update their software but won't give an ETA. Using OpenVPN is fine, but you might have better speeds and connection with NordLynx... ymmv.

Hi there
Not directed at you of course but it seems somewhere the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing (not yours - but the help desk) !!! -- I've usually found that helpdesks for anything whether for engineering spares, medical appointments, computer related issues, and above all online Banking are usually better called "Helpless Desks" - better solutions are often found via google or the Forums !!!

I've no problem in using nordvpn on Windows 11 (build .132) on both Enterprise and Pro versions. I can't suggest anything about HOME as I never use it -- although I suppose I could create a temporary (unactivated) version of HOME just to see if there's any problems on that OS.

Wireguard/Nordlynx as they say is still undergoing develop[ment -- it does seem it works on some machines but not others -- I've tried on Windows 11 PRO (on a real machine) and W11 Enterprise in a VM - runs fine on both. Note I'm not using bitlocker or any other type of Windows / OS encryption which could also be a problem and for multi-media I'm using Firefox browser.

Another issue might be some sort of Anti Virus or other security software you've got running - note you can use split tunnelling so the VPN functionality can be ignored for specific applications that you can select. Windows Defender doesn't have any issues with NordVPN.

Other VPN's might be OK - but I got such a good 3 year deal on NordVPN that I certainly have no intention of moving - even if I have to run it on a Linux HOST or VM.

Cheers
jimbo

Thank you for info, Jimbo :) . As I wrote, Iclean installed Windows 11 22000.132 and NordVPN is working fine now. But that clean-install gave me another problem .... Windows Terminal. During the install it found some small updates. But from the very first login I got this issue. I had that issue in an earlier build, and got it to work back then (can't remember how though), but with this clean-install it is a pain in the ....
Please see this thread and I will be falling on my knees if you (or others) can figureout what is wrong.
Clean install 22000.132 - Windows Terminal "setting" don't work

PS: I also got a very good 3 years deal with NordVPN :D

I'm having the same problem with Nordlynx. It was working after a clean install of 22000.120 but stopped working when I updated to 22000.132. If I look at the driver in Device Manager , I'm getting

The workaround of using OpenVPN does work in 22000.132 but takes forever to connect to server

Nordlynx, which was working well on a clean-install of 22000.132 has stopped working after updating to 22000.160, LOL !

Edit: While Googling through many posts, I find that this is not a problem specific to Windows 11, it has been happening to WIndows 10 versions too, mostly on updating to new builds. And the solutions given by NordVPN, like uninstalling and re-installing TUN drivers, don't work. I only hope that NordVPN gives an update to the program that fixes these !
Edit2: I tried to uninstall and re-install the NordVPN program, but it got stuck in installing 'NordLwf driver' , I had to kill the installation using Task Manager.
Anyway, it doesn't work properly.
