Hi, Pablo! You'll find that Macrium Reflect is very popular among members here. It's available in a free version at Major Geeks, and if you like it as well as most here do, you can buy a license for a reasonable fee.

Check out the sub-forum Backup and Restore (where your post is now).

Definitely as Wisewiz suggests, you can't go past Macrium Reflect.
My standby is R Drive image but it's not as fancy as Macrium Reflect.

If you liked Norton Ghost, be aware that it is still an actively maintained product. The name was changed when it was taken over by Veritas, so it is now known as Veritas System Recovery, Desktop Edition.

There is a lot to like about it, but a couple of things that annoy me. The biggest annoyance is that when booting from the Recovery Disk, the software simply will not scale properly on high DPI screens making some of the screens near impossible to read.

I had a technical support case open with Veritas for SEVERAL YEARS on this issue. They were constantly trying to resolve the issue sending me revised code to test, but even after several years it was not fixed. I finally gave up and closed the case.

Other than that, it works very well :-)

If you liked the simplicity of Ghost, you'll love what "Broadcom" has done with it.

They took the last DOS version of Ghost, "Ghost 11.5" and added it to a Windows 10 Shell, and set it up on a Bootable ISO which you can burn to either a Flash Drive or CD. I have it on both.
I use it from a Flash Drive, almost daily among my ten PC's.

I just stumbled onto it one day while surfing the web. If you want a link to the download, PM me.

Old does not mean good. Despite the love affair some users have with it, it is old, unreliable and basically a pile of gloop.

It let me down several times, has no flexibility.

Why would you drive a Robin Reliant if you could drive a BMW.

Use a modern well maintained and reliable tool e.g
Macrium Reflect, AOMEI Backupper, Hasleo Backup Suite, Easeus Todo Backup etc.

If it ever let you down, that was your fault, not the Ghost program. You must be a very inept operator.

I still use a screwdriver that was given to me back in 1964 when I started working for NCR. It still works great! (It's a Stanley)

No, it's the product's fault. It's a Norton product, they all have built-in let-down factors

Historically unreliable, unstable, and unsustainable

Loathed and despised widely, within the knowing profession and industry

Sir, you have absolutely NO idea, what you're talking about. If you're going to post to this forum, at least post the truth. Not a bunch of CRAP!

Ghost was written by a little known company in New Zealand, back in (about) 1996. I got it directly from them in 1997, and it was the best backup program I'd ever seen. I used it every day, in the PC shop I worked in, to clone old HD's to new ones.

In 1998, Symantec Corp. bought the program. Norton never had anything to do with it. Symantec screwed around with it for several years, before finally abandoning it.
Now, Broadcom has acquired it, and they would not put so much time and effort into incorporating it into a Windows Shell if they didn't feel it was a good program.
As long as the HD/SSD is error free, Ghost will back it up flawlessly. It runs outside of Windows, so it can back up DOS, any version of Windows up to and including 24H2, Linux, Server, etc.

Scream, yell, holler your claptrap as long as you want, and I will never stop Using Ghost to backup my system, every week. It just WORKS!

Sorry guys if I opened up a can of 'warm worms'. Meant no harm in asking about Norton Ghost but it seems to be a hotbed of distaste to some.

Actually, I have never used it but I remember to this day (26 years ago) how impressed I was to see it. Still remember my excitement, the looks of the gentleman that showed it working after I told him of disbelief and required him to PROVE it. He did just so, without effort. It was amazing. Nostalgic I guess. I want it, I want to play with it.

Also, I have never used Macrium Reflect although I purchased it 2 years ago. Most likely I will purchase it again and hopefully make at least 1 or 2 images with. All the reviews are still awesome.

I so much much appreciate the pros and cons of any application and thank the forum group for allowing me to join the many wonderful members here.

It's actually good to see guys so firmly attached to a product and therefore it must be a good sign for both applications.

Also, I have never used Macrium Reflect although I purchased it 2 years ago. Most likely I will purchase it again and hopefully make at least 1 or 2 images with. All the reviews are still awesome.
If you purchased Reflect 2 years ago, then that would have been v8, the current version. You should have been emailed the keys, if you can find them you don't need to purchase it again, those keys are still valid and give you a perpetual licence for v8. You can use your keys to download the latest version of Reflect v8.1, as shown here:

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I am now looking for a resonably priced equivelent. Any sugestions?

Hasleo is free & fully operational, not limited and is not for sale. Easy to use. For me, I recently installed it and I am extremely happy with it. I have tested different backups/images about 6 times without fail. Backup, image or clone your OS/drives or just backup files.
