Too many popups with Norton. I use Malwarebytes Premium with Defender Firewall.

Norton was always bulky and had too many features. i.e. backup, system optimizer etc.

I have used and relied on Malwarebytes Premium for 10 years. If you try it just skip the (browser guard and vpn offers). Other than that, it's pure real-time protection while surfing and adding files to your system.

The mining only is activated if you activate it and it will only run on selected devices. Ones that have a GPU with at least 6GB of ram

Bitcoin mining has nothing to do with securing one's computer and has no reason to be included. I still say that there may come a day that it gets turned on by default and the user will have to pay attention when installing or upgrading so they can opt out.

You have to agree to pay 15% of the money you make to Norton thus they can't turn it on.

They would be breaking the law if they did

I'm sorry but this is a flat out lie.
It DOES NOT include a crypto miner. It does not, and it never did. It is merely an option in select markets, and you have to take specific steps to activate it. It is not enabled by default, and in most parts of the world, it is not even included, not even as an option.

Yes, I am still using Norton and I will. They have great deals. And I hate Windows Defender as that one failed on me several times, and Norton didn't. On work computers I deploy Kaspersky because their pricing is better. That one is also very reliable.

From my understanding the app for mining is included with Norton and you do have to activate it to make it work.,.. but it's there

You do recall this? You discussed it here.

It is not bitcoin mining it is for Ethereum.
What Norton is offering is a chance to do it with AV protection albeit at a mega high cut (15%)
How can they turn it on by default when you have to agree the contract and have an account (wallet) which only you can create to get your pin.
I am not defending Norton as I do not agree with it at all. but I would like people to know both sides of the story. Also crypto mining is totally misunderstood by most people as they have only heard one side one view.
This is the end of my rant :ROFLMAO: and I shall say no more on the subject

They can't just opt you in. They have to get you to agree to the terms of the contract first.
I don't think you understand what I'm saying. All the software company has to do is make the default choice to opt in with a choice to opt out if the user doesn't agree. If the user doesn't take the time to read and just clicks on next, they are agreeing to opt in.

@Winuser But it still won't work even if they opt you in. because you have to have an account with Ethereum which Norton can't create only you can

Want to admit it or not you are defending Norton's decision to include Crypto Mining (Ethereum) or whatever name you want to call it in their software. With that said I agree with you that I'm also done with the subject.
