Notepad++ strange issue

Can you guys help me to figure out what's going on here please? I opened file with an extension .xml with notepad++ and then I wanted to open another exactly the same way, so RMB->edit with notepad++ and I've got this msg.

I have only one .xml file on my Win11 desktop so I downloaded and installed Notepad++ Version 8.4.8, no issue opening that .xml file which also opened fine in Notepad.

Good point, frequently a file can't be worked with if it's already in use by another program.

No. That's the thing. I know that sometimes editing software cannot access file as it's being in use, but in that case, it wasn't.
One might say that I should change the .xml extension to be opened with Notepad++ and case closed, but I want it to be opened by my browser. That's why if I want to edit .XML I always open the file with RMB->edit with Notepad++

Yes. What's even more strange, it opens with Notepad++ but only when I chose "open with" from the RMB
Edit: I did modified reg key so the RMB menu is like it was in W10

Hmmm. Does the reg file you used make use of single quotes or double quotes for the path?

Better yet - copy the file to your \Documents folder and see if it opens from there.
