Now that’s efficient storage…

Taking zero bytes on disk to store 18 bytes, now that’s storage efficiency, thanks Microsoft ! And no it’s not a sparse file full of zeroes, neither is it compressed. Makes me think, do I have a way to see the disk space that it truly takes ? (Sorry for the french UI)

According to the answer here, less than 1KB. As I understand that 18 bytes is still 18 bytes but total with what they call bookkeeping it is less than 1KB. The comments to the answer detail some more.

Interesting… so basically it’s because it’s likely based on counting allocated clusters only.
