I opened a link to a Word file on the my local school server which uses OneDrive sent to me in a school email. I selected the option to "Open in Desktop" on my own desktop PC which runs my own licence for Microsoft Office 2021. On doing this the file opened on my PC and requested my approval to start Microsoft 365 which I do not have. I rejected and the application closed. I then found my entire desktop PC Office 2021 installation was set to Microsoft 365! I did a repair install of Office 2021 which did not fix the problem. I had to recover my PC from yesterday's automatic PC backup (Macrium Reflect to the rescue again) and all is now fine. This issue should not be possible and indicates a possible problem with the school's software configuration.
Has anyone experienced this issue and can explain why it happened?
