Office 2021 Update Broken After Latest Windows Update?

This may just be coincidence but at the same time our three machines got yesterday's Windows Update, all of the sudden our MS 365 and Office 2021 won't update. The "Downloading Office Updates..." window just sits there going...and I notice very little network traffic to indicate that something is actually downloading. It is either something with the server or the Windows update that caused it. When I went to do an "Online Repair" on one of the machines...it uninstalled Office 2021 but failed to download again. I had to do a complete uninstall using the Office Scrub tool and was able to reinstall...however, it still says it needs an update but the download window is just going and going. Ideas in addition to just wait and see if it is on Microsoft's end?

Same thing is happening here. I will leave downloading updates overnight but I think I'll have to restore an image to get it back to normal again.

@Edwin, I know you have it. Are you having this issue? If not, you and everyone else needs to temporarily stop office 2021 updates. This is a big mess. I don't know if it's happening on the insider builds or not. One of the following updates broke Office 2021. KB5014329, KB5013628, KB5013943
UPDATE: After over 4 hours, the office 2021 updates applied.

I can back the updates out one at a time and see what happens. Could .NET Framework 3.5 have something to do with it?

I need to clarify a few things. First, the computer was is stuck "Downloading Office Updates..." is the Lenovo laptop. I'm not sure if you can see the details of it or not. My desktop actually downloaded and installed the Office update. I'm running Office 365, btw.

UPDATE: After over 4 hours, the office 2021 updates applied. Whew!

Since I do not use 365 I can not confirm, but I would leave it downloading overnight before I tried to do something about it. MS may very well be having a server problem.

Yep...still doing the same this morning...it appears to be dowloading...just at extremely slow speeds (i.e. ~10 kb/s). I'll set my desktop not to go to sleep while I'm at work today and see what happens.

I just manually updated my Office 2021 from
v2108 Build 14326.20454
{the version that was downloaded & installed only a few days ago}
to
v2204 Build 15128.20224
and it took 34 minutes.

There are no Event viewer records to identify individual updates within the mass of actions that took place.

- So I'll just have to note the version numbers as I go along so I can post before & after version numbers in any relevant posts.

- I have my network connections set as metered so I can update manually. I think that I'll update Office as I update Windows after my monthly system image ahs been made.

Or am I missing something? Are there, in fact, KB numbers for individual components within the updates?
You are all way ahead of me with Office 2021; I'm just using it on a secondary computer so I can learn about it.

I had the same issue. I checked for updates last night around 10 pm and just let it sit there 'running' for a half-hour... at that point, I just put the laptop on the desk and turned off the screen... it finished sometime overnight without issues, and it just took forever.

Probably soe update service being down, because I couldn't update Visual Studio either last night, and it was on a Windows 10 machine.

No I worded it poorly. Those 3 updates were windows updates that applied just before the Office update.

That's OK. I had realised that.
Not having had an update to it before, I was keen to monitor the first update to see what I could find out.
I bought Office 2021 on Saturday during one of ghacks discounted sales [$49.99+$10=$59.99=£48.88 including "VAT", our sales tax]. Actually, if I knew the right term, it was ghacks as a sales intermediary, a bit like Amazon's marketplace for third-party sellers]. The actual seller was nerdused.

Yes, possibly.

I had all sorts of issues after installing Tuesday's CU - programs would not load, some out-and-out corruptions, .dlls & .exes 'missing', etc ..

Fixed using this.

Net Framework was already installed
