Old drive not visable

My HP Zbook laptop has slots for three M.2 drives, one holds the operating system 500GB the other drive holds all my work items 1TB, I have installed a third M.2 drive 2TB which i havent yet initialized, it will be used to hold all the items from the C drive, now the drive that holds all my work items isnt showing up, anyone offer any help please?

Please search for disk management.
You will see a partition with no drive letter.
You will need to format it and name it and assign a drive letter.

As wisely mentioned, after I posted this, make sure you are on the right partition to format !!!!

One possible cause is that simply the drive letter for the affected SSD got changed or removed and it just needs a drive letter assigned again.
Another possible cause it that the affected M.2 slot got disabled. Sometimes adding NVMe or SATA drives will disable other NVMe or SATA ports. You may have done something like added a SATA SSD to the M.2 slot when it should have been an NVMe SSD - or vice versa.

Be careful with this advice. If you format the partition that previously contained your work data, it will erase your work data.

It's the drive that holds all of their work data. I doubt very much that they want to lose all of their data by formatting the drive.

Does the user manual specify what drives are supported?

I went onto the Crucial web site and done a system scan and it recommended several M.2 drives so i choose one of them?

My reply to you was based on this statement from the OP and not because I wanted to be unpleasant. I didn't see anything in the post about the new drive not showing. If not, and the two drives only show in Disk Management and the OP formats the wrong drive, their data could be lost forever.

Thanks for all your advise to date , so i have just removed the new drive and now all my work date which is on drive D is all visable again, so what do u recommend i first do before i reinstall the new drive.

And you see your OS on C: right?
No CD ROM, I gather?

I have reinstalled the new 2TB drive and the D drive is now visable, not sure why?

That makes things easier, maybe it got initialized at power-up.

So now again in Disk Management, you are going to right click on that unallocated top partition Disk 0.
Click Format, NTFS will be the default.
Once that's done, you right click again on the partition you just created, it should say Healthy now.
Select assign letter and path if the drive letter assignment is not to your liking.

When i right click on it it doesnt give you the option to format?
