Every time I start Windows 11, osk.exe (On Screen Keyboard) immediately starts when Windows starts and way before other software that I actually want to start. It is not anywhere in C:\Users\bob\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and I snooped around and couldn't find it anywhere else except where it belongs in C:\Windows\System and C:\Windows\WinSxs\...

I am not disabled physically and do not need osk.exe, but I do not want to delete it completely from my system. I just want it to stop auto-loading itself with Windows. It is highly annoying to have to close it every single day. Any ideas?

Open task manager, go to startup apps, is osk listed? If so, disable it from startup.

I'd see if running sfc /scannow from cmd as admin might find and fix something.
If you get so irritated that you want to beat it with a hammer, a good ol' repair install should take care of it.

I figured it out. All I had to do is change the Owner of the osk.exe file from "Trusted Installer" to me, then I can rename osk.exe to oskb.exe and Windows can't call osk,exe up anymore. To change the Owner of the file follow the directions here: How to Fix "You Require permission from TrustedInstaller"

Then, after I owned the file I changed the name to something I can remember (oskb.exe) when I do need it (RARELY). Windows 11 is still looking for the osk.exe file when it starts up but cannot find it since I renamed it and fortunately it does not give me an error; it just keeps on starting up.

Problem Solved.

Another way of tracking down what is starting up at boot\logon is to use the Autoruns applet (part of the Microsoft SysInternals suite of admin tools).

Autoruns gives very detailed information about what Windows is up to during startup. Much more detailed than what is available inside Windows.

I suggest monitoring reliability monitor to see if it starts throwing out application errors of any kind after your change.
"Reliability Monitor"... where is that?

Another way of tracking down what is starting up at boot\logon is to use the Autoruns applet (part of the Microsoft SysInternals suite of admin tools).

Autoruns gives very detailed information about what Windows is up to during startup. Much more detailed than what is available inside Windows.

Installed it. Rebooted, then looked at Autoruns. It's quite comprehensive in its report. So much so that I don't know what it is exactly that I am looking at or for. Perhaps you can elaborate some.

Hi,
I'd say if the accessibility/ keyboard off setting doesn't work "which is a weird option to be ignored" it's time for a refresh install.

Thank you. It showed me the few explorer crashes that I had this morning when I had multiple explorer windows open concurrently. I know that it shouldn't crash, but it does since I upgraded to Insider Build 25330. It must be one of the bugs of that Build. The crashes began hours prior to my renaming osk.exe to oskb.exe, so I concluded it wasn't my renaming causing the problem, but that of the WIndows Insider Build. Here is the report:
