OneDrive syncs all of my folders!

Hi,

How can I manage the folders that OneDrive is syncing to the cloud? When I am in file explorer, I noticed that there are two separate sections for folders; OneDrive, and This PC, however, even files under This PC are getting synced! Is there a way to manage the files that get synced?? I would like to designate just the documents folder, and nothing else. Is there a way to do that? Or if not, Is there a way to just sign out, or turn it off?

I don't think that is what they want. If I read it correctly, they want the files and folders to be only on their computer and not online. I just went through this when I tried to stop my desktop from being online. I think I had to uncheck the Desktop option in the Backup tab and not the Account tab. Now the only folders being saved to OneDrive are my Pictures folder and my Documents folder.

Per my screenshot, you can see my OneDrive - Personal item in the sidebar and This PC under it.. Looking at the properties of OneDrive - Personal, that stuff is stored in D:\OneDrive




We can see here though, that under This PC, my documents folder when looking at the properties goes to D:\OneDrive\Documents. Thus everything in here is also show in the above OneDrive - Personal. It's only being synced one time.


Other folders however are not in OneDrive.




If you want to stop OneDrive sync altogether, you can right click on OneDrive in the lower right, go to settings, and choose Unlink this PC

This is the setting I used to stop my desktop from syncing to OneDrive. If you decide to make any changes, make a backup of the files and folders first.

You could save files to your local machine: ThisPC - Windows (C:) - users - username - documents. It dosen't sync with OneDrive. If you want to access the file from other devices you will have to move it to ThisPC - Window (C:) - OneDrive - Documents or to the Documents tab under Home. You could also map the drive so files save to the local machine.
