Outlook limiting attachment size under Win 11

Outlook under Win 11 appears to be limiting size of attachments. I use email to move PDF files between my PC's. This morning, Outlook said attachments too large for server. I reboot my laptop and switch to Ubuntu 22.04 and evolution email, and the same email that Outlook refused to send went fine, even with 4 MB attachments. I am my own administrator and own all my PCs. All the email servers I use are IMAP, and I have not had this problem before. John

I suspect it's your ISP provider rather than Outlook if you are going via a router.

However the other question is why use email to move files between computers on a LAN -- what's wrong with programs like filezilla or even Windows explorer. !!!! I'm assuming local LAN rather than over the public internet.

As far as email is concerned on Linux I find especially if you don't have a GNOME GUI evolution is not very good, a bit too over bloated and doesn't like non standard servers etc. Not good if you have different inbound and outbound servers, different user id's and passwords on the servers, different logon protocols and the like.

Claws email --tiny and mega fast (and FREE) by contrast works brilliantly and can be installed on most on Linux distros with a tiny GUI. IMAP and 100% manual config possible too no limit on accounts or server types -- not like some of those automated things that go round and round in circles --that's why I gave up on thunderbird (I believe it's now called Blunderbird).

I'd also go with the E-Mail service in limiting attachment size which in turn limits the bandwidth required in providing the service. I have a number of computers, both Wired and Wireless, on my Network using a 5-port Wireless Router with an 8-port Switch, both Gigabit. I use a Wireless DSL Modem for the 25Mbps provided by my ISP. For data storage/transfer, etc., I have a 2TB NAS drive and any computer can access that Mapped drive and its Public folder.

Hi there
I've probably mis understood but is the problem that you can't save the email attachment and then copy it to another computer or you don't receive the full attachment in the original email.

If you can save the attachment in the email you don't need email to move / copy the file to another computer that you have control over.

E.G email comes from any person.

You save attachment on disk X

then copy to Disk Y on other / target computer using Windows explorer, filezillla, ftp, telnet or whatever. You shouldn't need Email for that function.

Maybe I've mis-understood the setup.

If the problem is in forwarding email with attachment to another recipient then that's a problem either with your ISP, or your email settings.

Thank you for your replies, but this may be a problem with Outlook and Win 11. I just made the same transfer from a Win 10 Pro PC, and it worked without a problem.
