I am running yet on more issues with Win11.
Part of my taskbar, to the right where you have the icons "Wifi, Sound, etc" disappears. Mostly happens resume from sleep.
Usually a restart of the unit would solve the pb.
Any other steps I could use to avoid the disappearance of half of my taskbar ?

Any help is much appreciated.

PS: I found this "reg delete HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0" in this forum "https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...settings/e6fc61d2-37c6-4ee0-b468-6b28c506b229" where someone had the same issue but I am unsure of what it does and it is safe to run ?

I just want to add one more point. Windows Explorer runs high on CPU when I have a wallpaper other than the default one. Up to 20 % CPU. I have to pick a fix color for the issue to go away. I do not if this is related or not but thought I would mention it.

Is anyone having issues with Win 11 like I am having ? I wish I could simply use my laptop and not have to tweak or fix anything. Basically like I used to with Win 10. I guess I am a mere user/player and not a geek :(

The code you found from that Answers page, uses the command prompt to delete the key IrisService in the registry and then restarts your computer. I haven't read the linked page and I'm not sure what that key is for, but based on looking at mine, I would suggest not doing it if you aren't sure it's the same as your problem.

Honestly without seeing the computer I'm unsure how to tell if the symptoms match, I just wanted to let you know about the Registry key before you did anything... I hope another user can chime in and help out more than I did.

Disable "hiding the taskbar' seems to have solved the issue as of now. We will see. I will keep testing..

Probably this has to do with some visual effect your graphics card cannot render properly. I would update the graphics driver, preferably directly from Intel's site, no Windows Update. If the issue persists, you can go to Settings, Accessibility, Visual Effects and disable transparency and fade. This usually fixes any visual bugs for older graphics cards (DirectX 9 era) that cannot properly render modern DirectX 10/11/12 effects.

I had a similar issue recently. I had build a brand new computer with AMD 3600X, 16GB RAM etc, but until I receive the graphics card I had ordered, I put an old nVidia GeForce 7300. This is a DirectX 9 card and when I right-clicked on the desktop I got a black box instead of the list, so I could not select Display Properties or Personalization etc. After I disabled transparency and fade, everything was back to normal.

In that case upgrade your drivers directly from AMD. If there is a standard version and a newer Beta version, I would install the newer version.

not solved at all. half of the taskbar still disappears even without transparent and auto hide option off..
Still looking for a solution. Restarting windows explorer does not solve the issue. Rebooting the unit does.
Win 11 is simply a pain at this stage !!

Have you upgraded the graphics drivers? I would also use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove the graphics drivers and reinstall them, just in case a faulty installation is causing incompatibilities. I once had Windows 10 v1909 and could not upgrade to newer build because of outdated graphics drivers. I reinstalled the latest available drivers but nothing changed. A closer look at the driver files revealed that some components where not the latest, but from earlier driver versions. Reinstalling the driver did nothing, the only solution was to use DDU to completely remove any trace of the graphics software and then install the latest. This way all components were the latest version and finally could upgrade to newer Windows build.

So use DDU to remove any trace of the drivers and then reinstall.

I suggest you re-install your display driver [even if it is with the same version that you currently have].
- Reinstallation re-registers display driver components and their registration might be the cause of your problem.

I used this method to fix a problem several years ago [Windows 7].
- I had noticed that I was not always getting the expected popups when clicking on SysTray icons.
- I reinstalled the display driver & the icons all started behaving themselves again [and still do].

Best of luck,
Denis

Agree, but to be on the safe side, first use DDU (see my previous post) to completely remove any graphics driver trace from your system, then install latest driver again. Download directly from AMD, don't trust Windows Update or any other third-party driver tool.

I have done it with a clean install.
AMD drivers only. Connected to the internet when the AMD drivers were installed.
Issue is with taskbar disappearing (the right side) but also loosing wallpaper click on settings intermittently not working. Usually a restart fixes the issue. All those symptoms are pretty common and the internet is full of users complaining about them.. For years my workflow has been the same with Win 10 and no issue. I do not tweak my platform nor do I customize anything. Its a work laptop. My little Bro uses it on a local account for gaming. Having moved to Win 11, I now need an IT :)

Windows 11 (22H2 22616.1)
I've seen this as well, icons on the right disappearing (HP Spectre x360, Intel video drivers, Windows 11 IP beta track, 22H2).

For me, usually toggling the hidden state of the taskbar off/on or on/off brings all the icons back.

I also have StarDock's Start11 installed.
