OS
Windows 10 version 21H1
I ran the PC Health Check on my Surface Pro and it says my processor is not on the list; however, my processor IS on the list....I have this...Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.50 GHz. I just updated to Win 10 Pro 21H1, restarted the Surface and ran the Health Check again. Still says my processor isn't right.

Thanks!!

Hi and Welcome to Eleven Forums

Which page were you referring to, when you say you've seen the i5-6300U is compatible?
Because the Windows 10 Pro 21H1 page says it is compatible. However the Windows 11 page does not feature this processor - meaning the processor is compatible with Windows 10 21H1 but not Windows 11 ... Sorry.

My bad...I clicked on the Windows 10 list thinking I should click on what my processor currently is...when I went back and paid more attention I discovered my error...

THANK you for the quick reply!

I'm running an i5 Core 7200U that is not on MS"s white list with Win 11 and sure does run good, My HP ENVY qualifies for everything else but the CPU. Think I'll have problems in the future? I've been running 11 now for over a week and it sure is working like a champ.

A couple of months have gone by since you shared this. Is everything still running fine?

Yes! It's running very, very well. A lot faster then Win 10. I dual boot to 10 every once in a while, but I use mostly 11. It runs smoothly and no high CPU temps. Updates fast and I'm even on the BETA channel!

But it's running sooooo well. Who cares if it's not compatible. It's running great. If things change in the future, then I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Think I'll have problems in the future?
I've played around with a 8 year old 4th generation i7 and the OS runs great. My thinking is the most they could do is decide to stop downloading updates to these systems, but no way would they do something to make them stop working entirely. It would alienate too much of their customer base. Who the heck knows what MS will do in the future to "incompatible systems" running Windows 11 because they're Microsoft. Nuff said.
