I have a Samsung Galaxy Pro 360. About a month ago, Samsung pushed a BIOS update to my PC. On the first reboot after the update, Windows loaded as far as showing my desktop. The taskbar would be blank or have a few icons. It would stop loading right there. The mouse still worked, but nothing else. I had to hold down the power button to shut it down. I would go through this process a couple, to more than a dozen times, and Windows would finally load and everything works fine. A few time I got the blue screen indicating Windows can't load.

The PC had no issues prior to the BIOS update. I ran a DISM command to restore Windows health. I tried SFC /scannow. Both completed without problems. That had no effect on the boot issue. I contacted Samsung Support and explained what was happening. I asked if the BIOS could be flashed again. They told me that was not possible. I've had many Asus products and was able to flash the BIOS myself. They told me I needed to reinstall Windows or they could give me a good deal on a new laptop.

I've ordered a new drive. I plan on putting it in the PC and see if that fixes the boot problem.

Any ideas why I ran into this issue?

Thanks

Not sure why a new drive or reinstalling Windows would fix a BIOS issue. It’s pretty poor that Samsung don’t offer a way to flash the BIOS.

I did read that perhaps “completely draining” the battery on the Samsung has fixed a few issues. I don’t know why that would work. unplug it from the mains power.
To drain it faster, plug something like a phone into it, to charge, might help drain it faster.

As apposed to reinstalling Windows, perhaps try a repair install / in-place upgrade.

or they could give me a good deal on a new laptop.
Ha! yeah right. Bloody samsung. I love their ssd’s though.
