Hi folks

Those of you who might have got W11 (or even W10) to work on older processors even under a VM are going to be disappointed with Photoshop 2021/2022. Install will fail because processor needs SSE 4.2 -- not sure in a VM how to "Poodle fake that".

So beware if wanting recent photoshop editions. Not sure what SSE4.2 does or why it's even necseeary but I suppose the good folks at Adobe will let us mere mortals know at some time.

Probably also because of all this wretched stuff to move everybody to endless subscription models too. That's a one way street to nowhere. Just look at the proliferation of services for TV / Movies on demand -- The old site flying the "Jolly Roger" has probably never been busier when not so long ago these sites were regarded as old hat and obsolete as for a few USD you could get all you wanted. Now there's NETFLIX, AMAZON PRIME, APPLE TV, BRITBOX, DISNEY +, PEACOCK, PEACOCK + etc etc. Total anarchy. !!!!

Cheers

Total Anarchy? I disagree. I subscribe to the few things I want, couldn't be happier, and ignore what I don't want.

Subscription to the photography plan costs me about £120 a year, 10 a month I pay more than than that for a meal from just eat :eyeroll: the old method would cost considerably more £700 every few years and did not include lightroom or the thousands of free resources included

Of course you have to realise that major developers have an absolute right to protect their software from piracy sites, the downside of this is that legitimate customers can occasionally suffer issues cased by the extra security

Torrent site, probably The Pirate Bay .
Oh, those didn't go away..they've been as booming as ever in the last 10 years. Private torrent sites are where it seems to be at, oh and just because I know...doesnt mean I do. Pirate bay is pretty obsolete. Same as kick ass torrents too. As I said. Private sites, you either know or you don't:)

I too wouldn't be without my Adobe photography plan subscription.

Let me add to that the value of my subscription to Microsoft 365. A paltry $7 a month gets all of Microsoft Office plus 1 Terabyte of Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage.

To put it into perspective, I spend more tipping waitresses than I do on my subscriptions.

Hi there
In some ways I agree -- but it also depends on tax models allowed as businesses against "one off Capital Software costs". Depends on your tax jurisdiction but in some places a capital tax allowance against say 500 GBP is given whereas the same benefit isn't afforded to a "subscription" -- no logic in it but were tax regs in any country ever logical. !!!

Anyway fixed the problem -- just moved software to computer with compliant CPU - although that was a bit of a hassle removing and re-installing licenses.

Cheers
jimbo
