Anyone know a tweak to pin the recycle bin to the taskbar? The old win 10 one obviously no longer works

Create a new shortcut.

Enter
explorer "shell:RecycleBinFolder"
for the target
Name it "trash"

right click and pin it to the taskbar

If you want it to have the trash icon, you will have to change the icon manually or it will appear as a folder.

Here I added it with the link to the icon. All you have to do is put it somewhere, right click. and pin to taskbar

You can do this for a lot of explorer items including specific sections in settings. There is a tutorial for it. Search for shortcut in the tutorial threads

Thanks, Geneo, but that method doesn't accomplish either of the two desired results: the icon has to have a right-click context menu that offers Empty Recycle Bin as its primary option, and the icon has to change from empty to full and back again as needed. I started another thread a while back on this same issue, and no one has come up with a workable solution yet.
Any known way to put a working RecBin on the taskbar?

Works a treat! What a little find! Now to see whether the exe can be edited with Resource Hacker to put the Windows RecBin icons into it.

Thank you, Franco.

Well, it WORKS! And I don't think you have to use Resource Hacker, either. Install it, run it, right-click icon, Configure, Change icons, click Full or Empty, find your RecBin icon (.ico) and double-click it. The do the otherr one, with the Use only Empty and Full option chosen.

It's hard to see the diff with the Windows 11 imageres.dll icons, so I may hunt for a new pair.

I have changed the icons and now trying to make them bigger.
I don't think that can be done in W11. Brink has already looked at the possibility of enlarging the system tray (now the Corner) icons, and found it's a nope, unless you enlarge everything: toolbar, pinned icons, and all.

you can change your date and time formats "Control Panel\Clock and Region\Region\Additional Settings"
and from registry i have something like this, you can play with codes

Code:
:: Control Panel - Clock and Region - Region - Additional Settings - Region Settings [TR]
REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\International\Geo" /v "Name" /t REG_SZ /d "TR" /f

No prob Rod The Hive, I've been using that little recycle program since I think Win 7. It doesn't get updated anymore but keeps working on new versions of Windows so I keep using it as it's been super convenient for my needs. The date can be changed under control panel clock and region, select region, additional settings, date tab and I use ddd, dd-MMM-yy for the short date in the task bar. You guys just made me aware the icons were more customizable then I ever thought.

Thank you so much, all sorted. I didn't realise you could edit things from the drop down choices I thought they were fixed. It is now just how I want it. you're a star

@The-Hive
Franco's spot on. I don't use punctuation, so just space, and ddd dd MMM yy. For both short and long date, to make sure it sticks.
