Hi folks
I think loads have said that file explorer is looking dated these days -- many editors for example have a built in command to access the OS command line without leaving the application - just click the terminal button and click it again when finished with terminal.
Definitely useful when trying to cut and paste long complex stuff into say powershell, lengthy mysql queries, testing batch files or some dism.exe parameters etc.
File explorer should have something like this available -- doesn't have to be underneath -- could be side by side or open another window etc can't be that hard to add another command to file explorer surely.
Maybe - but there are loads of complaints about file explorer that ought to be fixed - such as long file and path names > 266 chars-- although the windows API has allowed this for donkeys years file explorer is still using the old API limiting length to 266 chars with anything greater being shown as a meaningless dos 8.3 format. With some servers having quite large drives for file sharing it's not that difficult to reach the 266 path/folder/ filename limit.
I think I'm suggesting to many people on here who might be "MVP's" or who have influence into the various Ms places to make comments.
It's no point making a post to a public Ms forum that 120,000 million or more plus their dogs have access to-- even decent and sophisticated A.I won't bother to trawl through that load of stuff.
One needs to get this stuff to the right "bods". Not some poorly paid developer in an Indian sweat coding shop in Chennai working for peanuts for a load of off- shored facilities e.g Origin, Accenture ("Accidenture" or whatever they call themselves these days") etc.
