I'd like to change my settings for my Ethernet Network Adapter in Device Manager.
I want to check: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power (currently unchecked)
and uncheck: Allow this device to wake the computer (currently checked)

Both options are greyed out and can't be changed. Any ideas on how to change that?

Note: the WiFi adapter device right under it has both options available.

Just guessing.... have you checked the Sleep settings in Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Sleep

I don't use Sleep or Hibernate, so I'm really just guessing here.
And... this is a Windows 10 pic.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Yes, I've checked that setting, and every other setting regarding sleep I could think of.
Also checked the adapter properties and tried toggling the related values and testing.
Note: Sleep functions as expected everywhere else, it's just that Ethernet adapter.

I am now working in the BIOS, because I suspect this may be 'hard wired' instead of software. But so far I have found nothing switchable.

I have had a similar issue with my fingerprint sensor getting turned off in sleep mode. Your can try running an elevated command prompt. If not, try regedit. Hopefully your device manufacturer isn't using custom settings in the BIOS, or else it will probably on startup, but give it a try.

I should have posted this earlier.
This turned out to be a 'feature' of an MSI motherboard. The network adapter is always on by default in the UEFI/BIOS. The options are "Always On" or "Disabled". So it seems that unless this feature is changed in some future BIOS update then Windows can only do what it is told.

I'd still give the the elevated command prompt and/or regedit a try. I'm in the process or trying to figure out if there's a custom script I can run on startup as a workaround for BIOS power settings. The option will probably recheck/uncheck on boot, but at least you can leave a manager open and recheck it whenever you do a reboot as a temporary workaround. The options should stay ungreyed, since that's on the OS end.

You say 'run an elevated command prompt' or 'try regedit', but you do not supply the commands or edits to try.
