Windows 11
I bought a new Win 11 PC, but Explorer is not the same as old PC.
Refer attached for photo of old PC, which shows that under both Quick and This PC, there are folders Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Videos etc.
But on new PC with latest update of Win 11, there are none of these folders under This PC, which I need for ease of file moving.
Any suggestions?

Hi Edwin,
Sorry, I don't understand. "Quick Access" is fine so don't need to change it (or have "pinned" to it). I need folders added to "This PC", so I can have 2 lots of folders Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Videos etc on left side. Without this it is very hard to move files eg from Download to Pictures.

Whether Desktop/Documents/Downloads/Music/Pictures/Videos is pinned to Home, (aka Quick Access), or cascading under This PC makes no difference, it's all the same destination.

I'm sorry, I am not conveying what I need.
On my old PC, as in attached photo above... I have Pictures (and other folders like Video & Downloads) under both Quick and This PC. I can go in and out of Explorer and they are always there in the same place - perfect.
On new PC, Pictures is under Quick but not under This PC, which has made moving files more difficult.
In desperation, I googled and found a partial solution, which says at top of Explorer click on 3 dots, then Options, View, Navigation Pane, then tick on "Expand to open folder". It helps but goes overboard, and puts Pictures in various locations, and moves them around without notice. I just want it working, nice and stable, like on old pc (attached).

K, I'm not gettin it!
I take it when you say move, you're talking about drag n drop, right?

How are you able to drag items from a folder from within the navigation pane..., to drop them into another folder via the navigation pane?

I'm not sure I understand but if you want your folders and drives in the same area why not pin the drives to Home (Quick Access).

Frustrating but it's the new layout. MS trying to get everyone to use OneDrive. I stopped Screenshots from going to my OneDrive location under Pictures. I mapped it to My PC - C:Users. Now I select that folder to save screenshots to as these are temp needs and don't need to be in OneDrive storage. On some folders there is a location tab and you can set tocsave files and folders to My PC - c:users instead of OneDrive.

The Documents, Pictures, Videos and Music folders in MyPC - c:users does not sync with the folders under Home and Quick access. You have to change the location to safe to. Some folders have a location tab and you can choose where to save to.

Nevermind!
I see what you're after! The folders under This PC are self cascading when hovering over them with an item..., under Quick Access they are not!

To be clear I don't use OneDrive but the folders under My PC open the same as the folders in Home.

I will give an example...
Say I have downloaded a pdf, which appears in Download folder (or a subfolder of it).
I want to move (or click and drag) the pdf to a sub-folder within Pictures folder.
On my old PC, I would first go to This PC, Pictures then open Pictures, and specify open which sub folder I would to move to.
Then I would go up to Quick Access, Download folder, then drag the PDF file down to This PC, straight into waiting folder. Easy!
This has always worked in Win 10, and in older versions of Win 11.

But with new PC with latest Win 11:
-The Quick Access folders (eg Pictures) are there, and I can open sub-folders too. Good. Note I can't have 2 sub-folders open concurrently in Quick Access eg if I have Downloads folder open, and I then go to Documents, it will close Downloads sub-folders.. so both can't be open... so I need somewhere else ie This PC.
-The folders (eg Pictures) are no longer in This PC, so I can't open and prepare the target folder.

If I can't explain this to you, I'm sorry, and I will settle for the semi-ok solution.
ie 3 dots, then Options, View, Navigation Pane, then tick on "Expand to open folder".

I better bow out of this conversation cuz I'm not using that wanky W11 Explorer!
However, can anybody tell me if it does have self cascading groups of folders anywhere in the Nav Pane?

In latest Win 11
Under Quick Access, the folders (including Pictures) are there, and pinned, and can be opened, but not self cascading when hovered over them
Under This PC, this is no Pictures... but what there are (eg Windows C:) can be opened, but not self cascading when hovered over them.

I recall in older versions, if you hovered over something, sometimes they self cascade, but can't remember. I just booted up old pc, and wasn't able to self-cascade. However I don't mind if it self-cascades or opens on clicking, as long as Pictures is under This PC, which it isn't in latest Win 11.

Yup. I see that..., I just found out you can no longer add folders under This PC, you have to manually create shell locations yourself! Can be done with WinaeroTweaker.
Or, just do the Show All Folders/Expand to current folder thing! 🤷‍♂️
