Problems with Edge

Is anyone having issues with Edge ?
All of a sudden it`s not opening the 3 webpages I have it set to open, even though they are still listed properly in Settings.
And when I uncheck Get all Notifications on the main page, and close the window and reopen it again, the Get all Notifications is turned on again.
It`s also doing it on the X299 and I haven`t touched that PC for over 2 days.
I did a quick repair install on the Z170 and it didn`t change a thing with Edge, the issue is still there.

Hmm.. no issues here, version 96.0.1054.34. (I'm not in the insider program or anything).

No issues. I'm also on 96.0.1054.34 and not in the insider program. Of course, I'm not trying to do what you're doing.

I completely blocked Edge in my 3rd party firewall.
Now Edge is no problem, what so ever.

I tried it and no problems but I don't use Edge, it's just there

Ya I don`t understand it. And it`s strange that Edge is doing the same thing on the X299.

Very strange, @AddRAM.

I had uninstalled Edge with an app from MajorGeeks, but then decided I should reinstall, so I downloaded from MajorGeeks and reinstalled. Edge refused to open. So, I'm not sure if I have the same issue, but every little bit may help.

I've played about with tabs to open and works ok. Maybe try having only the three tabs open and use the 'clear the list and set it to all currently open tabs'.
Not sure where you get 'Get all Notifications' on the home page as I've got rid of the bell.

Well... I just uninstalled EDGE following these directions:




If anything gets weird, I'll post. Works on Win 10 and Win 11.
Article has 3 sections:

1. Uninstall EDGE
2. Prevent it from re-installing
3. Prevent this from breaking Windows Updates.


Note: This will break Widgets links, and Cortana web search.

Brb, I'm gonna go do this on Win 11 now.

Was a bit harder on Win 11. The 3rd section, where I'm supposed to delete all the EDGE folders in...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ...worked but I had to use UnLockIt for the EdgeUpdate folder.
The other 4 folders deleted without a problem.

Notes:
Rebooted OK.
It "checks" for Updates at least. I was up-to-date before doing this... so we'll have to wait, I guess.
Event Viewer has nothing new or out of the ordinary.
MS Store still works.
I have widgets disabled as well as Cortana web search, so I can't check that.
The two Commands, automatically removed EDGE from Windows Apps in REVO Uninstaller.
They remove the EDGE icon from the Start Menu, but the words are still there. They do nothing, now.



This is all the stuff that CCleaner registry cleaner just removed...

Rebooted OK. Did it twice just to be sure.
Also, ran the registry cleaner again, and none of that stuff... "grew back".

Ok... time to go back to Windows 10, and do the registry cleaner on Windows 10.

Well, that was easy... there was only "one" registry cleaner result after the un-installation of EDGE, on Windows 10.

The next "scheduled" updates aren't till December 14th, so I guess I'll just let it ride till then.

Windows Updates worked on Windows 10 and Windows 11, with EDGE removed...

Now, Edge on the X299 is behaving normally. I went into the Control Panel and set Internet Options back to default. Everything seems ok now on both PC`s
How any of that got changed is a mystery to me but I must have done something. I have Sync on, so maybe that`s how it got carried over to the X299.
I`ll do some more tests and mark the thread solved if all is ok.

OK I think it`s completely fixed
Actually I think resetting Sync fixed it, maybe I should turn Sync off ?
Ya I turned off Sync.

Ya I just installed the CU for W10.
Haven`t gotten to the X299 yet.
Edge has been working fine for me.
