Question about the security of incompatible systems that install Windows 11

The question may seem trivial, but the question is: are there additional software and configurations to be used to compensate for the lack of the TPM and processors accredited for the correct functioning of Windows 11, if it is installed on an incompatible machine?

I'm going to guess no. The new 'security' features are designed to work with TPM 2 and if it's not there I doubt MS has any way to accommodate it's absence. But then the same could be said about previous versions of windows. It's up to the user to make sure he/she practices good security measures.

I think good antivirus could be important in case defender is tweaked for tpm2 - but yes as always - careful practice.

+1.. a good AV is a must.

I detect a marketing opportunity: "Our anti-virus/malware" product works without TPM"

Or - our TPM means you don't need third party antivirus

I wouldn't trust it that much

I would imagine unsupported would effectively be as secure as Win10 at this point in time, so long as you are using 11 in the same way.

Hi,
Most all this new security stuff is for ransomware from testing in ms lab

Not sure what all antivirus suites they used to compare against defenders performance
But all the ransomware that effected people I know were only using windows/ microsoft defender lol
One was using norton but was using norton backup so it wasn't all that big of a deal to wipe the drive and reinstall.

Point being do plenty of backups and do not depend on defender.
I've been on malwarebytes pro for as long as I can remember and never had any issues.
Browser addons I use ublock origin and added decentraleyes recently easier to deal with than no script.

I think the best AV is still the one between our ears. Never do silly things and you stay virus free. A lot like life.,

Windows 10 has all of the same security that Windows 11 does. The only difference is that Windows 11 has some of them enabled by default, whereas users must go in and manually enable them in Windows 11.

TPM initiates a chain of trust, before the Operating System starts up, so no software can reproduce that result.
TPM is probably the desktop equivalent of a Server-based HSM (Hardware Security Module) that is used on Bank ATMs, etc.

Maybe Maybe not, there has been some talk of the fact that some serious malware is now prevented by changes in those processors that are supported, this is not so if you are running an unsupported Processor, especially as the code in Windows 10 that lessened the risk of Spectre Etc affecting systems is no longer present in Windows 11.

There is no empirical truth of this and microsoft is unlikely to discuss potential weaknesses in the OS but it is backed up as all the supported processors are the ones with the architecture changes

I thank all participants very much, for their opinions and suggestions, all interesting and complementary.
Also I use frequent backups with Acronis True Image 2021, both for the disk with Windows 10, with Windows 11 and the Linux Mint 20.2 partition.
I use Avira Antivirus Pro in both Win 10 and 11, and I have been enjoying it for years.
In daily internet browsing I also use Express VPN for a greater guarantee of privacy.
I think I can feel pretty comfortable even using Windows 11 in a machine that is not officially supported, but which still fully satisfies my needs and I have no intention of throwing it away to change it with new hardware only for official compatibility with Windows 11.

If you have any other suggestions I am ready to welcome them.
