Solved Ram speeds.

Upgraded ram on laptop from 16 to 32 GB.
Puzzled about the speed the ram is running at. I'm sure when 16 GB was installed the speed was 5600 MHz. Now with 32 GB speed shows 4800 MT/s in Task manager and CPU-Z.
PowerShell and HiBit Sys Info showing 5600 MHz.
Am I right in thinking PowerShell and HiBit are reporting the capable speed of the ram and Task manager and CPU-Z are reporting the actual speed the ram is running at?
There's no Bios settings to talk about here being a laptop so there's no ram settings there to tweak.

I have a Notebook with an 8GB module and found a 4GB in my parts box. The 4GB is slightly slower than the 8GB but otherwise the same specs so naturally, as with all parts in a computer, the RAM is running at the slower speed. The 2 speeds are 3200 and 2600. For the purpose of the Notebook there is no real performance hit.

The CPU is spec'd at DDR5 4800, LPDDR5 6400.

Is your new RAM LPDDR5?

It's DDR5

I used the Crucial tool to find match and Bought from Amazon. So DDR5 runs slower on this laptop?

Seems I can't do anything about it even if I wanted to but I certainly won't notice the lower speeds in normal use

I learn something new every day, too. I had no idea about the DDR5/Low Power DDR5 thing.

Looks like that CPU is indeed locked at 4800 for that RAM configuration. Honestly, you aren't going to see any noticeable difference with anything but a benchmark between 4800 and 5600 on the speed. Lower CAS timing for me would be more advantageous than the clock speeds...and even then...aside from benchmark scores....you probably could not PROVE it.
