win 11
hi all,
So recently I have had random hard locks or freezes which cause me to have to shut down the pc using the power button. I have tried everything possible to figure out the problem. Sometimes I can go a week or 2 without a lock-up. Sometimes it happens while gaming or just doing regular tasks. The only thing that I have enabled is XMP for my memory. I have ran dism and sfc with no errors along with memtest. I can't get my pc into the shop until prob wed or Thurs of next week. Most recent recommended GPU drivers are installed along with all chipset drivers. I looked at bluescreen viewer and it didn't seem to be that as nothing is showing up. Nevertheless, this should not be happening. A month or 2 ago I reinstalled win 11 fresh and the issue still continues.

Welcome to the forum. I would strongly suspect this being a buggy AMD graphics driver or the Adrenalin software. Completely remove both driver and software using DDU. Read the instructions carefully. Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.6.0

Then install the latest driver. If that doesn't resolve the issue, go through the procedure again and try a slightly older version of the driver and software package.

Thank you for the response I already used DDU last night and reinstalled the latest recommended driver. The problem is VERY weird as i can go a week or so without any issues.

When it happens again I will try that lol and It will happen again its just a matter of when. I will be bringing my PC to a repair shop next week coming to have it looked at. Hard locks should not happen.
Random questions/thoughts:

Any entries in Windows Reliability Monitor or Event Viewer ? Is that screenshot in post 1 from a specific troubleshooter ?

Suggest inquiring in the Asus Forum or calling Asus if your are eligible for free or low cost support. There are also various hardware tests available online. Personal opinion only, but last resort would be taking it to computer repair shop. Good Luck !

Are you randomly getting a black screen with the monitor backlight still lit? Are you getting it with Edge? I have that issue and I have yet to notice that with Firefox! It appears to be an infamous bug of 11.

With the infamous Windows 11 bug, it won't freeze when gaming. But Windows 11 will randomly freeze when using Edge!

No the pc just randomly hard locks on the last screen it was showing. The screen does not go black at all.

Folks over on the Corsair forum have been reporting this same issue and many have found it to be the Icue software. That would be a place to start.

It says specifically in the event that it is a hardware error. If Icue does not prove to be your problem, I suggest you stress test your ram, cpu, and gpu.

Test your ram.
Search for "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in your start menu, and run the application. Or run Memtest64.

How long did you run memtest? Lockups can result from flaky memory, and memory tests can take a very long time to detect a problem. Run memtest and/or memtest+ for many passes. It will take many hours and any error is a sign that your memory, or something related to it (settings, sockets) is bad and should be corrected. If you get errors, try testing one DIMM or slot at a time to identify the faulty DIMM or slot. Or you may have to disable XMP or change timing or voltage settings to achieve stability.

Thank you for the response I already used DDU last night and reinstalled the latest recommended driver. The problem is VERY weird as i can go a week or so without any issues.
Mine does the EXACT same thing! I also use AMD Card and use Adrenaline. . It doesn't do it every single day. . Just random times, and on the day it does, it happens multiple times.
