Read Any Good Books Lately?

Sometimes you just have to log off and stick your nose in a good book!

I just started the latest from John Grisham, not bad, so far.

I bought this series in February 2021. I've read the whole series three times so far.




And this is a killer set also...

The Dark Tower series - Stephen King

The Woman in Cabin 10, Ruth Ware. Beautifully written thriller-mystery.

I read the first three chapters of 1984 then got distracted. Last week was my last work week until the spring so I will have plenty of time to catch up on my reading. Once I finish reading 1984 I'll be reading House, The Official Guide To The Hit Medical Drama.

An old book, but very good (if you're into spooky).

A Nice Place To Live ~ Robert C. Sloane


Why all the old ones you may ask? I Have a friend who owns a used book store, and she has everything. The old paperbacks, are dirt cheap to buy. Lucky me, can snag one, read it, take it back and exchange for another.

Kinda same here: good friend owns a still-successful used book store. Sells new books, too, to help make ends meet, but it's a real treat to rummage through the older copies (all in great condition, or he wouldn't take them back) for treasures from a while back that I never got around to reading while I was still working (full-time, that is; I still work, but it ain't the same as a contract position). Just recently got around to Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch, and loved it.

I'm going to read In Defense of Sanity by G.K. Chesterton. My wife says his essays, of which this book is a compilation, are great. He has a rather unique argumentation style. That's if I ever drum up the interest in it...

Any good suggestions today from the best sellers list?

Wish I could recommend something. Classes started today, and that means work starts for me today. I played Skyrim all during my break, so I read absolutely nothing except the subtitled dialog!!

The last Kingdom on Netflix tv show? Those are the books for it :)

Wait, @Edwin. This isn't a recent book by any means, but if you've not read A Clockwork Orange, you should. One of my students was just talking about the movie in his introductions, and I remember that's a classic book to read. If you have a strong constitution, that is. If you have delicate sensibilities (which you don't), you should avoid it. (That's a disclaimer for anyone with delicate sensibilities!!)
