Does that mean i can use a USB Flash Drive?

I was told that the Flash drive must be 32GB!

Before I couldn't find a flash drive that I inserted into my PC nor was it working using my old ones.

You only need that much space if you tick the box to back up your system files to the recovery drive. The amount of space required varies from system to system. For example, on my laptop it only requires a 16GB USB flash drive.

If you choose NOT to include the system files, then you only need 1GB of space.

But even 32GB flash drives are tiny by today's standards and are available inexpensively. I see brand name 32GB drives (SanDisk) available on Amazon for under $8.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

You need to define/explain what you mean by "recovery drive"? How was it created (what program)?

What was not working with your old ones? "Old ones" ... ??

I need to boot my desktop since I can't update it. I saw in here that I can do a repair upgrade iso which I need to use a flash drive. But I couldn't find my flash drive until I had to do a drive recovery which said a USB 32gb is required.

I'm looking to use the CREATE WINDOWS 11 INSTALLATION MEDIA.

a) desktop Windows 11 iso

b) windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) (Windows 11 iso flash drive)


Only 8 GB is needed for a bootable MCT.

Ok, but my PC won't allow anything less than 32gb for flash drive to be used.

Yes, I have apps and files that's already on my PC that I don't want to lose. I was trying to find a solution until I came here. The windows pre-installed when I brought my PC a few years ago won't update even after creating disk space. I'll usually get a pending update and then it goes to retry.

The MCT can be downloaded to a new desktop folder or installed on an 8 GB flash drive.

An in place upgrade repair can only be performed on a computer that can boot Windows.

If you cannot boot Windows then options are:

a) startup repair
b) system restore
c) command prompt commands
d) reset save files
e) custom install
f) clean install

etc.

My desktop isnt that old though. I can still download the MCT as long as I get the flash drive for it.

I already have cloud storage for my files. I just don't want to lose my apps that I installed on my PC.
