Apps Reinstall Microsoft Store app in Windows 10 and Windows 11

  • Staff
Microsoft_Store_banner.png

This tutorial will show you how to reinstall the Microsoft Store app for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Microsoft redesigned the Microsoft Store from the ground up in Windows 10 and Windows1, making space for more content, keeping the user experience simple and responsive. It will help you discover and install the best apps, games, movies and even special offers – like unique movie discounts for Xbox Game Pass members. All the content in the Microsoft Store is tested for security, family safety and device compatibility.

If the Microsoft Store app is missing or has been uninstalled by mistake, then you can reinstall the Microsoft Store app without having to reinstall or reset Windows.

@Brink The last last update got rid of MS Store and 3 apps therein. It really is becoming a pain in ther you know what to update these days.

winget is no longer an accepted input or words to that effect so option two is moot.
I tried option one yet again and all I get is Microsoft Store downloading and the same for Microsoft Store Host but they never seem to actually do that.

To get Winget you need the 'App Installer' installed.
If you're having issues with the Store app then try this,
In PowerShell (admin) copy and paste:

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *WindowsStore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Then reboot the PC

Back on PowerShell (admin) copy and paste:

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Success!

  1. I went to the Media Creation Tool page and selected the “Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices” option.
  2. With the ISO downloaded, I right-clicked on the file and selected Mount from the contextual menu.
  3. I then launched the setup app on the virtual DVD now mounted.
  4. After a few clicks on Next buttons and an acceptance of Microsoft’s software license I was almost ready to install Windows 11 over top of the existing installation (see screenshot below).
  5. I clicked Install, and the install was underway.
  6. When that was completed I had updated from 22H2 (22621.2715) to 23H2 (22631.2715), and the Microsoft Store was back.
  7. I still had an “Invalid Value for Registry” error, when opening JPEG files. Updating the Microsoft Photos app in the Microsoft Store fixed that.
