The solution provided here does not work in the current version of Windows 11 because those options are missing. Windows refused to recognize the current driver for my Brother PT-2730. So, I manually added the printer, pointed to the drivers, and it works. Problem is, now I have two printers with the same name in "Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners" One with drivers, and one with the "Driver is Unavailable" message. There is no "Show more Devices" option.
Also, the instance with the missing drivers does not appear in devmgmt.msc even after showing hidden devices.
WMIC printer get name only lists the working printer instance that has the drivers.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers only lists one working instance.
This is a clean install of Windows. Yes, I rebooted. Any ideas? Where does "Bluetooth and Devices > Printers & scanners" store it's data?
How do I get rid of the "Driver is unavailable" printer instance?
