Remove web widgets in 'new tab' in Edge

Hi there

Does anyone know how to disable the widget(s) that show the app widget and weather in a new tab in edge ?

This what I'm talking about, it appears in the upper left of the page, I'm not using a synced account and neither do I want to.

Lol, yes I thought as much. I have used a extension called 'blank tab' which does work but I'm trying to make things the way i want them without extensions.

As I understand it you have to be logged into your account to access those settings (something I don't want to do) and even then it does not get rid of the office 360 widget/ advert, it only gets rid of the weather widget.

As I say it is doable by a third party extension but I can't find a way to get a truly blank tab in edge itself.

Yes this seems the lightest workaround, or simply have about:blank as a bookmark in the bookmarks bar

I clicked on the gear wheel and turned everything off. If you have to log into your account and don't want to for some strange reason I think you may have to live with it.

I actually was getting to really like Edge, till they started doing things like this I cannot think why they would think putting these unmovable widgets in the very browser they want people to swap to is a good idea.. !?

I would have thought putting more user customisations in would be the key.
