Hi,

Drag and Drop images should make appear in a dialog box the option to resize image, along whit "copy", "move" etc . It has always done that. But now it is not working. The option do appear when right clicking, but this will only allow you to resize in same folder.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
If you are using the photos app, open an image. Click of the ellipses (3 dots) on toolbar. You should see the 'resize image' option.
Select your desired size. When you click save, you have the option of naming the resized image and also choosing where you want to save it.
Each time you resize an image, the folder where you chose to save the previous image is remembered so you don't have to select it again.

If you do not like the new Photos app, you can use the legacy photos app.

Hey, thanks. I'm long time user since the days of the Seven Forum and so on, new here.

I don't know if I misunderstood your answer, I'm referring to "Image Resizer" app inside PowerToys. It gives yoou the ability to slect photos on File Explorer and then right-click drag them to other folders, have the Resize Image options appear on a dialog box and have the photos resized on the destiny folder. And Resize option is not appearing for me.

I think I found what's causing your problem. It seems to be a known issue as of a couple of weeks ago and a hotfix has been committed by the powertoys team..

Thank you so much! I had googled but did not found this page... I found a thread with a solution, I tested and it worked:

I'm copying the solution below:

"I found the way to enable ImageResizer in context menu:
  • open notepad
  • paste the code bellow (in BOLD):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shellex\DragDropHandlers\ImageResizer]
@="{51B4D7E5-7568-4234-B4BB-47FB3C016A69}"

  • save the file with .reg extension (e.g. imageResizerFix.reg)
  • double click the file
    • require admin privileges
    • will show a pop up window if you want to apply changes - click Yes

Tested on Windows 10 22H2.
This is NOT a proper fix, following PowerToys updates will have the same bug (unless it will be fixed)."
