rid spam

I just reset my pc and received 21 spams. I reached out to my ISP Comcast, and they provided me with two apps and told me to hang in for two days. I did use them for two days and amazingly on the third day I only received one spam.

[email protected], and [email protected] are the apps

You all may not have same provider but if you reach out to yours perhaps, they have similar tools.

If anyone has another way to stop bombardments of spam, please post it to help us all with this annoying issue.

Most web mail has a spam filter.
After a day or two of putting spam emails in there... the spam slows down dramatically.

I saw the filter but thought maybe some good mail may be discarded with the spam. There are some emails I cannot afford to miss.

The spam filters work just like deleting (sending to trash).
The only emails that go into the spam filter are the ones you put there.
And... you can always take them back out as well.

My spam filter has 244 items in there. But I can mark any of them as... "not spam", which sends them back to the inbox.

Just because it may say... you might have won a Walmart gift card... doesn't mean it came from Walmart. :)

I usually go by the sender's email address. If it's not a company or site I deal with... it goes into the spam folder.


Now if it's just an ad from some site you do deal with... just delete it instead.
Then go to that site and "unsubscribe" from ads and great offers... etc.

For forums... I usually allow emails from admins, but not for things like "someone responded to your post".
The only responder emails I allow are those from sites I don't normally go to daily.
Like maybe if once in 15 years I go to LG's website and post a question about a TV's remote control or a setting,
I'll allow responder emails from them. Because I hardly ever post there, and don't want to have to check every day for a response.


For sites that I actually make an account at... I always check that site's account settings.
There's usually check boxes for the various kinds of emails they want to send or offer to send.

Everyone pretty much has to come up with a system that works for them. :)

May I digress for a moment and ask if the current Defender having slipped 4 points this year is still ok with MBAM free?
I am sorry to not include the source as I just passed it and forgot to obtain details. They all differ and try to sell another product but this omitted any suggestions. That is why I paid attention to it.
I Googled," Is the current 2022 Defender sufficient"?
Would you be comfortable with Defender and MBAM free or would you suggest a different way of protecting your machine?
I know each has his own choice but your information seems solid.
