I have win 11 23H2 and having a weird right click menu problem, If I am hovering and clicking fast to copy files etc the menu will just appear and disappear again it keeps doing that until I slow the click down it appears fine, thats really making me mad cause am a fast worker and It slows me down and this issue was not there on win 10, I tried Brink method of shell apps and tried disabling them all still the same, included a GIF of the issue hope someone have an idea whats going on
thanks in advance

Hi, welcome.

Have you rebooted after this happened? Try restarting explorer.exe

I tried Brink method of shell apps and tried disabling them all still the same

What method are you referring to?

Go to this tutorial and re-enable “Show more Options” in the context menu.
Option one — Enable_Show_more_options_context_menu.reg

Does it still happen?

What method are you referring to?
yeah its pretty much same reboot has no effect its there since I moved to win 11 I though it will be gone with updates but no luck, also did not see people complain about it like they say its only being slow to appear but never diappear like mine

I was referring to this as I thought a shell extension is crashing it

with this no its stable and no issue but I like the old context menu, do you have any reason why that might be happening or any possible fix?

Some other things you can try:

  • Try a different mouse incase your mouse is faulty
  • Try disabling Scroll Inactive Windows - Control Panel>Mouse>Pointer Options - uncheck Scroll Inactive Windows
  • Go to Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings>Advanced Tab>Performance>Settings — uncheck “Fade out menu items after clicking”
  • Run CMD (command prompt as admin) run these one at a time:

sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Be patient

Alternatively you could run the bat file at the bottom of the first post here:

I have actually never come across that one before.

I like the old context menu,

Yes I just wanted to see if you replaced the “More Options” if the problem persisted. You can always undo it again with the disable reg file in that tutorial

do you have any reason why that might be happening or any possible fix?

Try the stuff in my post, after your last post.

what about you try to replicate the issue? try restoring the old context menu and see if you have same issue as me, if you do try to make your right clicks fast

I don’t have your problem, also I don’t know the things you’ve changed in your PC setup. Obviously you’ve been adjusting things.
What I have and what you are experiencing are two separate things.
If you don’t want to try my suggestions to rule things out, that is fine. But the things I have listed, to me, are good options to rule out.

its not like I dont want to try your options, I already tried them all and all possible fixes online and that issue has been with me since 22h2 and I also didnt adjust things different than people do if you mean I messed it up, win 11 needs many hacks and tutorials applied before it suits you especially if you were attached to 10 and its look and how you interact with it, but I think I had it with win 11, less performance, glitches, and weird problems that I never had with 10, like it seems pure luck maybe, I never had a problem on win 10 I couldnt fix it was just perfect
so thanks for you all your help and support you are appreciated, for now I will wait for 24h2 thats my last stretch with win 11 if it slowed me down again I will return to win 10

No problem, all good. It is just that for me it would be impossible to replicate. Even after all the tweaks that I have used, I still couldn’t replicate your problem. It would seem (obviously) that something somewhere went askew.

Option Three should fix the problem that you are experiencing in File Explorer: Restore Classic File Explorer with Ribbon in Windows 11 Tutorial
The new File Explorer with tabs bugs just reminds me of this:

I am actually using that Ribbon option for a long time now
In that case I would try to troubleshoot the Indexing Service to see if that fixes File Explorer. The solution could actually be as simple as rebuilding the search index.

Check double click/single click settings, or mouse click sensitivity.
Maybe the OP is clicking so fast they're double right clicking!!! 🤷‍♂️

In that case I would try to troubleshoot the Indexing Service to see if that fixes File Explorer. The solution could actually be as simple as rebuilding the search index.
tried rebuilding search index no change, I included a different presentation where I noticed that the action bar is reacting late to click when its icons glow late the menu disappears, however clicking slow the icons will glow at same time with click so maybe its as @antspants said something went askew due to my infamous bad luck I seem to have exclusive issues nobody has ever had before

Looks jinxed. lol I would try to repair unjinx Windows with an in-place upgrade. Some of your settings will be reset in Windows Settings, but most of them will be retained. If you already tried dism /repair-image /online /restorehealth and sfc /scannow, and you also already tried various other online suggestions to troubleshoot the issue, I think this will likely be your best bet. (I am assuming that you already know that reducing the total size of the Search index by removing locations from it and/or turning off Enhanced Mode for the Search Indexer also can help to avoid slow-responsiveness symptoms in File Explorer.)

For repetitive fast actions in File Explorer, I use the Classic Explorer Bar (from the Classic Explorer component of Open-Shell) with my own custom commands on it. Also, instead of using Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, and Ctrl+X with the left Ctrl key, I use Ctrl+Ins, Shift+Ins, and Shift+Del with my left hand on the right side of the keyboard while keeping my right hand on the mouse to select or multi-select the items that need to be copied, pasted, or cut. Not because I am old school (I am), but because it avoids unnecessary straining my hand and wrist [when compared to using the aforementioned C, V, and X key combinations]. For repetitive fast actions via the taskbar, I use the taskbar style option of ExplorerPatcher with my own custom toolbars on the taskbar.

I use several other methods and tools in conjunction with all of the above to speed up my workflow, including a bunch of programs and scripts that I wrote myself (batchfiles, VBScripts, some PowerShell, and a handful of .exe files made with the built-in C# 5 compiler that comes on Windows 11 by default).
