RNDIS Gadget Driver

I am having an issue with trying to get windows to let me use my driver instead of the windows driver. The device I am connecting to the computer need to be a USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget but when I attach it to the computer it shows up as a USB serial device. I have tried updating the driver but it tell me the best drivers for your device are already installed. It does not give me the option to delete the driver software for this device. It is using a default usbser device. (C:\windows\system32\drivers\usbser.sys). I have tried clearing the driver cache and that does not work. I have uninstalled the device and reinstalled it but it still uses the same driver. I attached the driver file that I downloaded from the software manufacturer. By the way, the same thing happens on my Windows 10 pro machine as well.
Any suggestions?

And out of interest, when you plug in this device, have you gone into Windows Update, checked for updates then looked in the Optional Updates for any RNDIS driver?
Windows used to install the USB RNDIS Driver by default, apparently, but not since Windows 10.
I have read that the driver can possibly be obtained via Optional Updates when a device is detected.
It would help to know what it is? Wouldn’t be a Raspberry would it??

The program I am using is radio programming software. The device that gets connected via the programming cable is a radio.
antspants, I did not know about the Optional updates part of the updates. I just tried it and it worked for me on both the windows 10 and windows 11 machine. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I greatly appreciate it.
