Trying to sync (copy via robocopy) a drive from my work desktop to a NAS 2TB hard drive.
Here is the batch file I've been using for a long time that is now not working:

Rem Copy new or changed files from "er2_d" to NAS
robocopy "\\Ascthrifter2\er2_d" "\\172.16.103.182\public\2022-06-23" /E /XD "Dell Optiplex 5010 Backups" "Lenovo Ideacenter K450e Type 90B3 Backups" "$RECYCLE.BIN" "System Volume Information" /DCOPY:DAT /IS /R:0 /W:0 /B /XJD /XJF
pause

Above is with /R:0 /W:0 /B /XJD /XJF that I just added but it makes no difference except it now ends on the first error. What I want robocopy to do is ignore the error and continue. Any way to do that?

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Its a NSA nas. No recent updates available, it's pretty old.

I don't think you need the quotes here: robocopy "\\Ascthrifter2\er2_d" "\\172.16.103.182\public\2022-06-23" as there is no space between anything, I have seen where you need them and not need them causing problems. The other quotes are needed due to the spaces.

Your error is saying access denied...which points me to the username/password for the NAS. Can you access the NAS from an explorer window? It might prompt you for a username/password. Anyway, something to check if you haven't.

I don't care about the error, I want robocopy to ignore errors and continue to the next file. There does not appear to be any way to do so.
Setting /R:0 /W:0 /B has no effect other than robocopy exiting on the first error rather than continuing to the next file.

Agree, quotes not needed but cause no harm. Done more from habit than anything. I can access the NAS and write to it most of the time with no problem. I've been using this batch file which uses robocopy for several years with no problems. It was just this last time I tried to use it that I ran into these access denied errrors.

But again, that is not what I care about here. I want to know how I can get robocopy to ignore the error and continue with the next file copy.

Extremely old post with a similar error over at StackOverflow, with 4 different solutions proposed.

And then there is this:

/NDL and /NFL Might make it a bit easier to see which files it is sticking on, and the OP's mention of _MACOSX may not be of use to you, but worth mentioning.

It's scrapping the bottom of the barrel but
- I have always used full paths after /XD
- I have never used /IS & don't know if it has any peculiarities
but, if they used to work & no longer work, I don't see them as the cause of the problem.

I've checked them multiple times. As far as I can tell everything is setup correctly. Set to Everyone, Full control.
I meant testing read-write access within a cmd window.
- Try to read a file in the source folder.
- Try to write some rubbish to the destination folder.

Extremely old post with a similar error over at StackOverflow, with 4 different solutions proposed.

And then there is this:

/NDL and /NFL Might make it a bit easier to see which files it is sticking on, and the OP's mention of _MACOSX may not be of use to you, but worth mentioning.
/R:0 /W:0 /B does not help. Robocopy gets the error and exits, it does not ignore the error and continue with the next copy.

I don't care what file gets the error, I just want to ignore it and continue. That does not seem to be possible with Robocopy.

I successfully copy thousands of files in the command window with Robocopy, just a few get errors, which I don't care about. I only want Robocopy to ignore the error and continue to the next file copy.

Again, trying to fix the error that I don't care about instead of getting Robocopy to ignore the error to continue copying.

My post was an attempt to help you diagnose the cause of the error as a step towards finding a solution that allows your script to proceed.
