Segoe UI Variable default system font is unreadable

I am 70 years old, and use a 1280x1024 monitor so that I can read the screen. When I got a new Win11 machine, I found the default system font to be almost unreadable. It is faint, thin, and difficult to read. I can make the font BIGGER, but that does not fix the problem. I get terrible eye strain and headaches after working on my Win11 machine for a few hours. I can change the font for certain applications, and that helps. I can use Immersive Reading, and that helps A LOT. ANYTHING to avoid the default system font is an aid. I know a LOT of people who are having the same problem with the faint, "thin" default system font. We need a way to select a DIFFERENT default system font. I think Segoe UI Historic would probably work very well. Win 11 is MUCH LESS accessible due to this default system font.

I'm on Windows 10 at the moment, but in Winaero Tweaker, under the "Advanced Appearance Settings" section, there's an item called: "System Font", which may be helpful in this instance.





When you click the "Change system font..." button, it gives you a drop down box with all the installed fonts.
For example... this is a font called: Impact








By the way... I'd suggest Tahoma (comes with Windows) for the OP.
After choosing a font, you just need to sign out and sign back in... or restart, to apply the changes.

If you want Ariel, Calibri, or Tahoma I have reg files already prepared which I can send as an attachment, or you can make your own reg file as per the tutorial.

I used Winaero Tweaker to increase the font for my Icons, Menus, Message Formats, Status Bar Fonts, and Window Title Bar Fonts. Yes, I can change the system font to a DIFFERENT font, but I can NOT make it any bigger using Winaero Tweaker. Is it impossible to make the system font BIGGER?

Have you tried increasing the display scaling?
