Windows 11
Having installed Windows 11 24H2, I too installed KB5043178 and had to then uninstall it. How can we stop these updates from installing when we normally get a number to install at a time? I have stopped "Getting updates as soon as available" and "Paused updates for 1 Week" but I cannot find a way to be able to select or delete updates from the list.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I don’t recall that Windows Update updates apps. So I assume you are referring to drivers.
But now that Windows recognise the drivers because you checked for updates and they have been placed in your update list, not sure how you get around that. Maybe resetting Windows Update.

So here’s how to stop the driver updates.

Here’s how to reset Windows Update

Also, KB5043178 Windows 11 Cumulative Update Preview build 26100.1882, is as it says, a cumulative update, not sure why it’s installing without you saying it can, or even installing with other downloads. Cumulative updates are usually an opt in.

Also, you can pause the updates for 20 years, and get back to it then 😛

You could use WAU Update manager (I have never used it)

Hahahaha. I was able to install this *G#@!n* KB5043178 update on two different machines ( a desktop and a laptop). But it took at least half a dozen attempts ... or more. This must be one golly-whopper of an update.

So far, the computers seem to work OK, but I hope it doesn't turn out like a bird dog that's eaten a bucket full of chicken bones. :)

Good luck Bryan.
